This Weekend...

This weekend I...

...Went out to the burbs to do a bit of pumpkin patching with my niece (oh you know, and her mom and dad)! We didn't grow up doing a ton of fall activities, but I still always like a chance to wander through a corn maze. But you know, like a really short corn maze so I don't get super lost ;)
...Drove up to my parents' house for a little bit of dinner and a lotta bit of watching the Cubs win! Okay, so we actually listened to the part of the game where they won in the car on the way home, so now Jeff says we have to listen to every playoff game in our car. In other Cubs related news, we actually went to the game last night!
...Bought everything from Sephora (including this Living Proof volume spray I'm super excited to try) because I wanted free samples. What's wrong with me?!
...Tried making these pumpkin muffins, because fall, but epic failed and had to throw them all away! And here I am all the time talking about how anyone can be a good baker if they can follow directions. Super sad face.
...Headed down to our old stomping grounds in the South Loop to check out Jeff's brother's new apartment and have a little family brunch. Jeff's brother and sister both moved back to Chicago last month, so now it feels like every weekend is family weekend!

I hope you had a good one!

Friday Finds

Happy Friday! We made it! This week I've been doing quite a bit of "ooo that's pretty... but it's not in the budget." Sad face. Like this green vest. So cute, but even at the sale price I can't quite justify it. So then, I guess I'll just have to drool...

More Oatmeal, More Stripes

Shirt (similar) - J. Crew Factory / Sweater and Denim (similar) - Gap / Booties (similar) and Bag - Sole Society

Until a month ago I owned zero sweaters in this color, and now I somehow own two oatmeal cardigans. I don't know how I managed to stumble through the world without one for so long, because I've been reaching for one or the other just about every day. For some reason my basic black cardigans can feel boring, but toss me a little oatmeal, and I get excited. Pair it with some stripes, and apparently I get even more excited. I may have to cool it on the stripes though, because my guy co-workers have taken to calling me Stripes around the office. Oh boys.

This week has been pretty chill so far, which is lucky because I'm somehow still trying to catch up on work and sleep (and most importantly, reading blogs) from last week. I usually sleep a lot (like, you know, 8-9 hours a night) but I've been dying every night and pushing the snooze button every morning. On Tuesday my sister and I were texting back and forth about how we wanted to go to bed at 8:30 pm. You know, like all normal twenty-somethings. I can't figure out if I'm really still confused from throwing off my sleep schedule for our friend's wedding and then the conference, or if I'm maybe getting sick again. I just had a cold three weeks ago so I'm really hoping that isn't the case!

So anyway, I hope you have a happy Thursday! Three cheers to being so close to the weekend!!

Halloween at Home

I'm assuming it's because it's our first fall in our condo, but I've been super excited about fall decorating this year. Like, bought everything at Paper Source excited. Like, smelled 15 pumpkin scented candles at Target, decided none of them were quite right, and then spent $40 on a pumpkin chai Nest candle excited. Oops.

I'm not one of those people who's all about the creepy or scary Halloween, but give me a cute pumpkin or fun wine glass and I'm a happy camper. Here are a few of my favorite Halloween decor finds:

Plaid & Herringbone

Shirt and Vest - J.Crew Factory / Jeans (similar) - Madewell / Bag - Sole Society / Booties - Toms / Necklace - Stella & Dot

Jeff's college friends think that my blogging career, and especially Jeff's typical role as photographer, is hilarious. They talk about it all the time, follow me on social media, send my photos to each other, you know, the usual. Since we got engaged, they also like to refer to Jeff as "Jeff does the Internets" or "Mr. does the Internets" ;) One of his friends stayed with us over the weekend so that he could run the Chicago marathon, and was very interested in trying his hand at doing some internets with us. So big ups to Mike for taking these photos!!

So anyway, this vest from J.Crew Factory. Do you own it? I feel like at this point it's in just about everyone's closet. It has been around for several years now but still manages to feel fresh every fall. If you don't have one yet, then you're in luck because they're way marked down this year! I spent $65 on it last fall during a big sale, but this year it's been marked down even lower. Just a note - I always size way down for these vests. I'm typically a large but am wearing a small here. Since I'm curvy on top, a larger vest sits way too far away from my body to be flattering. The small hugs my side and back, making the layers much more streamlined instead of bulky.

Are you all about the vests this season?

This Weekend...

Oh hey there! I'm back from San Francisco after a seriously crazy week. I went out for Dreamforce, which is a conference run by Salesforce that 170,000 people attended this year. People told me it would be nuts but I didn't quite believe them. Well, most days I was out running around starting at six in the morning, and wouldn't get back to my hotel until after midnight. I flew back late Friday and didn't get in until early in the morning on Chicago, so needless to say I was exhausted! Basically the whole weekend was one big nap ;) During my few waking hours, we went to see the Cubs playoff game on Saturday night (they won!!!) and tried to catch up on a few things. I'm still super behind, but I'm hoping I can get back on track this week!

I hope you had a good one!
