New Denim

Shirt (similar) - Loft / Vest - Old Navy / Jeans - Madewell / Scarf - Target / Flats - Steve Madden

What's your favorite brand of jeans? I know that everyone has their own personal jean struggles, but mine are finding a pair that are long enough (I'm only 5'9" but I ideally wear a 35" inseam) and also that my hips and butt are on the smaller side. I heard good things about Madewell jeans, they're not supposed to stretch out and they do phenomenal things for your butt.

I ordered a pair online after going to the store to try them on (since they don't carry tall or taller sizes in stores) and they came in the mail over the weekend. So far I'm a little unsure as to whether I'll keep them or not. I've never had this problem before, but they seem a little too big in the knees and lower legs. However, they fit my waist and hips perfectly and do, in fact, do phenomenal things for my butt. We shall see, we shall see.

  1. Honestly? I don't have a favorite because I haven't really been able to find a brand that I REALLY love. I mean, I really do like my Gap jeans but they do have flaws. The waist/hips/thighs thing really kills me.

  2. I love a nice plaid and stripe combination and those flats are just tooo cute!!! The jeans look nice on you, and it sounds like there are some pretty good positives to them.

  3. This is such a cute look, I love your scarf! I have heard such great things about Madewell jeans and all of the wonderful things they are supposed to do but I had the same problem as you, they're too loose around the knees and lower legs. I don't know what's up with that because I have seen pictures of other people wearing them that don't seem to have that problem..

  4. The jeans suits you very well. I don't have a favourite jeans-brand, but I finally found some in H&M which suits me. You look wonderful :)

  5. I love this outfit, and I think I might be perma-jealous of every blogger who got their hands on one of those plaid scarfs this past fall.

Personally, I buy 7 For All Mankind jeans when they go on sale for ~50% off. They've been a nicely proportioned between the hips and butt for me.

  6. I am 5'11" and always have trouble finding jeans that are long enough. I got a pair of black Madewell jeans for Christmas and I am loving how soft they are! I also love 7 for all Mankind jeans and the new American Eagle X-Long denim works for me. I've always wanted to try a pair of Rag & Bone jeans but the inseams never seem long enough :(

    Love the casual outfit!

  7. Jeans are so hard! The ones at Old Navy are the only pants that fit me well since I'm so short. I'm loving the stripes and plaid together!

  8. I have the opposite struggle with jeans. I'm only 5'1" and about a 28" inseam. Most jeans are NOT made that short, and then I have baggy knees because my knees hit the part of the jean that should be thigh.

Personally, I love Joe's, AG, and J Brand these days, but I change my mind all of the time!

Those jeans look great on you though and I love the wash.

  9. I've concluded that jeans are just difficult. I'm pretty average height, but jeans never fit me right because I have to buy a size up for my hips and thighs. Then everything else is baggy. Ugh. Jeggings for life. Also, that outfit is awesome and I vote that you keep the jeans because they look great on you!

  10. Yeah I feel you girl. Maybe someday I'll find a favorite, but that means I have to actually go into stores and try jeans on, which is NOT something I want to do.

  11. Thanks Ada, I joined the linkup! No I don't think you're the only style blogger not to own it hahahaha. I actually have the Target version because it's a little smaller / not quite like wearing a blanket around your neck.

  12. Huh weird. I wonder if we just got dud pairs, or if we share some sort of weird small knee body issue ;)

  13. Oh thanks Nivikka, I am now remembering that I used to have a pair from H&M that I loved, I'll have to check them out again!

  14. Thanks Cassie I'll have to try those. My Target version of the scarf still appears to be available if you're still looking.

  15. Oh yes I remember really liking AE's extra longs, maybe I'll have to go back and try those again.

  16. Thanks Angela! Yes I imagine finding short jeans is an equally challenging problem - when are retailers going to figure out that we aren't all 5'5"?!

  17. Thanks Jackie, the wash is what really drew me to them. Being petite and finding jeans sounds like such a struggle too. I've never tried Joe's but I've heard that from a couple people so I'll have to go give them a try.

  25. I love your pattern mixing, that scarf is amazing. thanks for linking up with me and please come back on thursday

  26. If you like everything else about them I suggest just getting them tailored! That's a super simple fix and if you can sew you can actually do it yourself. They look great though!

  27. I keep seeing this scarf everywhere but I'm not tired of it yet. Looks super cute with your outfit and I like how you tied in all the patterns. For the jeans, I agree with what @Jacquelyn Wheeler suggested - if they fit so phenomenally everywhere else it's worth getting them tailored! As I've gotten older I realize that it's nice when you can buy perfect pieces right off the rack, but a LOT of women need to go one step further and get their clothing tailored. It makes a huge difference in how things fit YOUR body (and you feel in your clothes, too), I swear!
