White + Floral

Jacket (similar here or here) - Target / Sweater (similar) - Loft / Jeans - Old Navy / Heels (similar) - Sole Society / Bag (similar) - Kate Spade

I don't know when it happened, but I feel so busy all the time these days. This week after work I've been running around like a crazy person trying to get ready for my bachelorette weekend in NOLA (we leave this Friday!!!!), prepping for my sister's baby shower, going to events for work, and even squeezed in a little anniversary celebration with Jeff last night at Green Street Smoked Meats (his pick, not really the most romantic of restaurants but so good!!).

There's little room in my brain for outfit planning, so I fell back on some of my usual spring favorites for Easter this weekend: white denim, the comfiest heels ever, and my favorite floral blazer (can't believe this baby, which I thought was probably a trendy one-off when I snagged it at Target back in 2013, is going on it's third year in heavy rotation).

While people normally wouldn't think tight white pants were a good idea for a big food eating day, I've been trying to count calories this spring, so the unforgiving waist band was a good reminder not to stuff myself silly. I know everyone has crowned Thanksgiving as the eating holiday to end all eating holidays, but I actually prefer Easter. At my grandma's house, Easter dinner always means ham, scalloped potatoes, spring vegetables, and crescent rolls. I'll take that over canned cranberry sauce any day!

Two more ways to wear a floral blazer:

Holy Chic!

Tee - Old Navy / Jacket - Target (old, last seen here) / Jeans - Gap / Shoes - Madewell / Bag - F21 (old) / Necklace - c/o Lovelywholesale.com / Bracelet - Michael Kors

I saw these graphic tees at Old Navy (that are totally JCrew copycats) and I just couldn't resist.  Even though I maaaaay already own an almost identical one from JCrew Factory.  I actually sized up for this tee (something I NEVER do, usually I'm sizing down to get the fit I want) because I wanted it to be a little loose instead of tight like most Old Navy tees tend to be.  I usually don't find myself getting that into trends, but I am all about graphic tees these days.  I'm hoping it's a trend that really sticks around.  Here I paired my graphic tee with boyfriend jeans and flats, but I definitely want to dress it up with a pencil or a-line skirt and some heels too.

Oh, and can we talk about these flats?  They are so adorable that I want to wear them all the time, and then I walk one block in them and basically want to cut off my feet they hurt so much.  I often find myself ignoring foot pain when trying on shoes because "it's not that bad," or "my feet will get used to them."  It's definitely a bad plan, because I now own so many shoes that I never wear, or can only wear if we aren't planning on walking anywhere (which basically never happens in Chicago).  Struggles of a style blogger/shoeaholic/Chicagoan.

All Floral, All the Time

Jacket - Target (old) / Tank - F21 (really old) / Jeans - Gap / Shoes - Reebok / Bracelet - LC Lauren Conrad (old, similar) / Necklace - gifted (similar)

I bought this blazer last spring but actually had a hard time finding different ways to wear it, so it mostly just sat in my closet looking sad.  This spring though it has been all over the place (like when I wore it to work here).  For some reason all of the sudden I've been wanting to wear blazers all the time, despite the fact that I ignored Stacy and Clinton for years.  They just help to pull together casual outfits, or finish off my work looks.  I wore this particular outfit out to lunch with my mom and aunt, and then to run around the city a couple of weekends ago (hence the comfy sneaks). It was supposed to be in the 60's, but ended up being almost 80 that day, which was unfortunate because I maybe had a weird bra situation going on under that jacket and couldn't take it off to cool down.

What about you?  Are you a blazer fan?

Creative Professional

Dress - Old Navy / Blazer - Target (old, similar here and here) / Flats - Payless / Necklace - YuniKelley (similar) / Watch - Michael Kors (old, similar)

Sometimes when I get dressed up for work, I want to show that I'm a professional but also a creative.  To do so, I stick with classic shapes but add in some personality, like the floral print of this blazer and a fun necklace.  I got a new boss this week, so I wore this for his first day in the office to show him I mean business.  Of course it was about twenty degrees cooler that day (silly Spring) so I also wore tights.  There are 70's (!!!) in the forecast for the next two days so no more tights for this girl!

Ensemble: Faux Floral Blazer

First a bit of housekeeping: the address of my blog is now kristinadoestheinternets.com.  If you have my blog bookmarked you may want to update it.  If you're using GFC or BlogLovin it should update automatically.

After buying and returning several floral blazers that made me feel like a grandma, I finally found one I loved a couple of weeks ago.
Blazer - Target / Tank (old, similar here) and Jeans - Gap / Shoes (similar here) - Steve Madden

Then I wore it, and realized it wasn't actually a floral print.  More like abstract splotches of color.

Doesn't matter to me, I still love you, my faux floral blazer!

Are you hopping onboard this trend?
