Friday Finds

Happy Friday! We once again have nothing going on this weekend (what else is new?!) but I'm in final prep mode for celebrating Mia's second birthday next weekend. Figuring out how to make a birthday special for an (almost) two year old (eeek!) who doesn't really understand birthdays yet and doesn't realize she should be having a party is... weird? She does realize, however, that she wants presents. She even tried to claim my Valentine's Day flowers for herself ("I want pesent!") before she realized that flowers are not a fun toy. So besides presents, I also ordered a cake from Butter Cream Flour (my friend Laura's business, her cakes are seriously the most delicious ever!) and am trying to figure out how to strike a balance between decorating and making our house fun but not going totally overboard (see: Mia's first birthday party).

Anyway, here are my finds for the week:

Friday Finds

Happy Friday!! What are your plans for the weekend? Anything going on for Valentine's Day? Mia and I already baked Valentine's Day cookies, so I think I'll try making cards with her on Saturday, and then on Sunday night Jeff and I are trying to decide what fancy thing we want to cook. Steak and scallops? Fancy pasta? Whatever it is, I insist on opening a bottle of champagne and actually getting dressed. 

Here are my finds for the week! I have an older version of that baseball cap and they couldn't keep it in stock for more than a couple days last time, so if you're eyeing it snap it up quick! I personally am in love with those ballet flats, you know, if it ever becomes acceptable to wear non-snowboot footwear in Chicago.

Happy Friday!! Not a ton on the docket for this weekend besides packing. We're renting a storage unit to clear out some space (in case you hadn't heard, babies come with a lot of stuff!) and the boxes are getting picked up on Monday so we have to get it alllllll packed up this weekend. See ya next year, Christmas tree!

Friday Finds

Happy Friday!! How was your Thanksgiving?? Such a weird year. We were planning to have Thanksgiving at home by ourselves (I even made an overly ambitious meal plan for the day!) but then Jeff's parents quarantined for a full two weeks for us so we ended up at their house. His family usually has pretty small Thanksgivings so it actually felt strangely normal. I'm not a huge Thanksgiving food fan, but I got some mashed potatoes and gravy so I was a happy camper.

I thought I was supposed to have this Friday off work but it got changed to next Friday instead, so I'm in a very confusing place mentally at the moment haha. We don't have much going on this weekend, but we are planning to wander the city to look at Christmas lights. I'm also hoping to wrap a few Christmas gifts, because our bedroom is the current holding place and it's starting to explode! I'm weirdly excited that Mia is at the age now where she's excited to open presents, so I may have gone a little overboard ;)

Happy Friday! Since COVID is currently surging in the Midwest, we're pulling back on social activities and keeping things quiet this weekend (besides the tickets we already had for Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo - hoping it feels safe!). I'm finalizing our Thanksgiving menu since we decided to cancel dinner with my family and are just cooking for the three of us at home - our must-haves are mashed potatoes for me, and sausage stuffing for Jeff. And maybe a festive cocktail or two ;)

Happy Friday!! What are you up to this weekend? We're actually packing up and heading to my parents' house later to stay for the weekend. Since we live so close we rarely even spend one night with any of our parents, but since we don't have many plans these days a weekend away sounded fun! We have tickets for a pumpkin farm and plans to get some of my favorite hometown takeout. 

Lots of new arrivals this week, I had a hard time picking my finds!! I did show some self restraint while writing this and haven't actually ordered any of these... yet 😉

Happy Friday!! Today Jeff's mom is coming to babysit all day so I get a full, uninterrupted day of work! Weirdly excited about it haha ;) We don't have a ton going on this weekend, so I'm also looking forward to getting some stuff done around the house and maybe going on a hunt for some mums (#ThisIs30).

Here are my finds for the week! Three of the items are from Madewell and are on an awesome sale right now for Madewell Insiders (all you have to do is sign up for their emails). The dress is 20% off, and the tee and boots are an extra 40% off the sale price. Not bad! And I looooooove that green poncho but the fabric has wool in it so it's a no go for me 😢so please buy it so I can live vicariously through you. How cute would it look with a long sleeve striped tee underneath?!

Friday Finds

Happy Friday! Mia's grandma is picking her up for a sleepover this morning, so we have 24 baby free hours on the docket!! I always end up missing Mia terribly, but not being responsible for keeping her alive and not having to pick up all of our belongings off the floor tonight sounds great at the moment. Jeff and I are planning to go out tonight for our first dinner date since FEBRUARY tonight so I'm just a little bit excited. Don't worry, we're going to a patio where we will be wearing masks, and it's walkable from our house so we won't be on public transit or in a cab. Very excited for someone else to make me a cocktail and do the dishes :) 

Here are the finds for the week! Those glasses are bluelight glasses - have you jumped on the bandwagon yet? With all the extra staring at screens of the past six months, I'm starting to think a cute pair would be a good idea.

Friday Finds

It's an especially happy Friday today because we're in the middle of an extra long weekend! We rented a lake house with some of our friends waaaaay back in January for the long weekend. Sadly we decided it was the right call not to have twenty friends come with us (😓) but kept the rental anyway so we could still have a little getaway. 

I hope you're having a great long weekend!! No new content here on Monday, but I'm working on some posts for the rest of the week. I feel like that's pandemic life - one week I have everything totally together, and then the next week I post zero times. Anyone else? 

I did manage to have one win this week that felt fairly normal - I scheduled our family photos! Just a little PSA: if you haven't done pro family photos in the fall before, now is the time to book! Photographers offer mini shoots in September/October for you to use on Christmas cards, they're quick photo sessions (good for little kids) and are cheaper than it typically would be to book a photographer. Last year I waited until late-September to try to book something and all of the photographers were full. We ended up getting a family friend to do them for us, and I was so happy with how the photos turned out I think we'll try to do them every year. 

Anyway, here are my finds for the week. These posts are always a little dangerous to put together, I may have ordered this sweatshirt (and then this one too - eep!) while putting this together. I figure if this quarantine thing goes on all winter I could use a few more loungewear items ;)

Happy Friday!! Coming at you when it's already wine-o'clock because it's been a heck of a week! If you didn't see on Instagram, we had some crazy storms roll through Chicago on Monday afternoon that knocked out our internet for a few days. Honestly, I'm super thankful that's all that happened to us, because a lot of my neighbors fared a lot worse - an honest to goodness tornado went through Chicago about a mile and a half north of us! But anyway, since Jeff and I are both working from home (and the working from home thing doesn't work so well without an internet connection) we spent the week shuffling between our parents' houses. It was pretty stressful to start since our already reduced working hours were cut even further, but ended up being really fun getting in all of that extra family time. 

Anyway, it's time for my finds for the week. And GASP, is that a SWEATER?!?!? J.Crew came out with their late summer/early fall collection, and y'all, it's perfection. I basically want everything. (Also, a southern coworker told me that "y'all" is no longer just for the south so I'm running with it.)

Friday Finds

Happy Friday!! This one is especially happy because we are packing it up tomorrow morning and heading out of town. Every year my extended family rents a house up in Northern Wisconsin for a week of fishing, swimming, boating, and board games. This year I'm especially thankful for the tradition, since thanks to the short(ish) drive, seclusion, and extra cleaning precautions we didn't have to cancel. It's just going to be six adults and three kids this year (my brother and his family live in Japan, and thanks to travel restrictions if they came to visit this summer they would have to stay!) so it'll be a little quieter than usual, but also it's three kids ages five and under so it definitely won't be quiet! I'm hoping I get the chance to relax a little and am not just spending the whole trip making sure Mia doesn't kill herself. This week she figured out how to open the silverware drawer and grab stuff out of it even though it's over her head. Pray for us.

Happy Friday! Not a whole lot to report over here, our plans for the weekend are a social distanced birthday party for my dad and trying to figure out how to get Mia into the car without her getting carsick! Poor girl - I had extreme motion sickness while I was pregnant and seem to have passed it along to her. Any ideas besides flipping her car seat around?

Wednesday Finds

Oh heyyyyy! Coming in early with my finds for the week because we've got a long weekend here in the U.S.A.!! I've got a four day weekend starting in just a couple hours, so I thought I'd sign out early here too. We don't have a ton on the docket, just hitting up the zoo again (what, is twice in six days too much??) and watching the fireworks from our roof. Oh and Jeff went a little nuts and got two giant racks of ribs to grill for the two of us which could get exciting. Friday Finds

Happy Friday!! This weekend we're letting Jeff's parents babysit - eeek!! It'll be our first time without Mia since the first week of March. Going to be SUPER weird but I think it will be good for her to interact with people who aren't us / deal with a little separation. I don't even know what we'll do during our baby free time - maybe go to brunch? Just sit and read in a park? Nap upstairs at Jeff's parents' house while they're with Mia downstairs???

We also got a reservation to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo (the outdoor areas are reopening this weekend!!) so I'm super excited to do something a little different! The last time we took Mia to the zoo she didn't notice the animals at all, but I think it'll be a different story this weekend. Guessing she'll just bark at everything 😂😂

Here are my finds for the week! How freaking cute is that Sunset sweater?! I keep telling myself I don't need it and I have a bunch of sweaters like it... but I have a feeling it'll be flying toward my house soon ;)
