I share my clothing budget here every month. My budget per month is $350, which may seem like a lot to some people or a little to others, but for me feels just right. I include all of my clothes, coats, shoes, and accessories in that budget, but not athletic gear, pajamas, or intimates.
It's almost November which means it's CHRISTMAS CLOTHES SEASON. The most wonderful time of the year ;) I've ordered a couple of things to twin with Mia for the holidays (like this top for me and this skirt for her) which officially makes me that mom, and honestly, I'm here for it. The only thing left for me before I officially turn into my mom is making her add a white turtleneck under everything.
While I have kind of a lot of items currently headed my way, I actually only have one purchase for this month! I know, what, who am I?!?!! And my one purchase was actually an emergency Target pick up order for our family photo reshoots, ha! I planned very carefully for our family photos and had outfits picked out months in advance, but then Mia was crying or pouting in literally every photo except for this one. Our photographer offered to have us come back, which meant I had to figure out a new set of coordinating family outfits, which obviously meant I needed new boots. I have been trying to buy tall slouchy boots with a not-too-tall heel for years and years, and I honestly can't believe my Target pick up order are the pair that actually work.
Target Boots - originally $39.99, on sale + used rewards $20.08
I did also order these jeans so I could do the cool girl thing and pair them with booties, but the fit was a little too baggy in the knees and slightly too short with my booties, so sadly they're going back.
Every month I post about my clothing budget. My budget per month is $350, which may seem like a lot to some and a little to others, but feels just right for me. You can read my thoughts on my 2018 budget here.
Leopard and black and plaid, oh my.
I tried really hard to get myself not to write that, but here we are. I'm just really amused seeing my October purchases all lined up. Two black jeans might seem a little much, but the distressed pair actually is a really faded black in person and is really casual. The other pair is a really dark black and look more like a dress pant than denim. So now I've justified that to myself ;) As far as the double leopard? Well that scarf was on sale for $12, so I basically had to get it. Right? Right.
The month of October basically flew by, and I can't believe I've got an almost eight month on my hands now! My mom brought over my baby book last weekend, and it was funny to look through and see that Mia and I have been tracking the same height and weight almost exactly since birth. Freaky the way those genes work!
Sam Edelman Loafers - originally $140, on sale $112. I've talked about how much I love these already, but they really are the best. I wear them basically every day. J.Crew Factory Flannel Popover - originally $69.50, on sale $34.95. All of my plaid was in the wash, which made me think that I needed more plaid for fall. I didn't, but I love the popover style so I decided to keep this one. J.Crew Mid Rise Jeans - originally $110, on sale $66. I wore these over the weekend and I love that they look a little dressed up without being actual dress pants. I haven't owned black jeans in a few years, and I love the way they pair with sweaters and plaid. J.Crew Factory Leopard Scarf - originally $59.50, on sale $12.49. This is thick and beautiful and expensive looking in person. Just note that it is a full square when you open it up, so it needs to be worn more like a blanket scarf. Madewell Button Fly Distressed Jeans - $135. I got these on sale. I got my usual Madewell size and they were waaaaay too big. I checked like a madwoman trying to find the size I needed in stock. I thought it never would, so I ended up returning them. The long story short, is that I did manage to find my size and I wanted them so badly I paid full price the second time around. In case you needed to know how good these are. I am wearing these as I type this, and they are incredibly comfortable and flattering.
Total spent: $360.44
Total saved: $153.56
I did order a couple other things that haven't come yet, I'm really hoping this coat fits! I also am looking for a good red sweater. I always want one for the holiday season and then never have one in my closet.
Did you budget this month? Any good scores?

Yay for fall, the season of plaid and sweaters!! I know that come January I will be so tired of wearing sweaters, but for now I'm all about it! Here's what I purchased in October:
J.Crew Factory Plaid Scarves - originally $29.50, on sale $17.70 x2. I ordered one of these last year and loved it, so I snagged a few more when they were on sale. I wear these with my winter coats but also just over a sweater or tee. New Balance Sneakers - originally $69.99, used coupon $49.99. I saw these on Jill and basically had to have them - I mean, how cute is the leather tag?! These are also the sock style of sneaker that I love, which makes them super comfortable and also means they easily slip on and don't need to be worn with socks. J.Crew Factory Plaid Flannel Shirt - originally $42.50, on sale $25.50. I'm just getting to the point where I'm having a hard time buttoning shirts, so I've been wearing this open over a tee shirt. I love the white base, it's different than everything else in my closet and will be fun for the holidays but doesn't scream Christmas so I'll be able to wear it outside the holidays too. Loft Open Cardigan- originally $59.50, on sale $29.75, used giftcard $0. I discovered a couple gift cards from last Christmas and ended up ordering this - it's so cute and luxe looking in real life! I've only worn it once because Jeff spilled beer all over it and it's been in the laundry pile since then, but I'm excited to get more use out of it! Oh and just a note, I don't know what the fabric is but it's basically impermeable, because I didn't notice being spilled on until Jeff freaked out haha ;) Definitely size down - I ended up getting a medium and the fit is perfect. Loft Striped Poncho - originally $69.50, on sale $34.75, used giftcard $0. I wanted another layer since cardigans are basically my pregnancy uniform, and this one definitely fit the bill. Just a note that this is not particularly warm, probably better if you're in the South and have not already entered winter haha. I usually size down in Loft ponchos but ordered the L/XL because it was the only thing available at the time, and the fit is actually fine. J.Crew Factory Sweaters - originally $49.50, on sale $29.70 x2. This was another favorite from last year that I reordered. I got XLs this time (last year I ordered larges) to be able to wear them for longer and the fit is way oversized but not enough to look crazy. I wore one here, and you can see that they typically fall off of one shoulder which I think is cute, but if you want them to fit less oversized I would size down. J.Crew Quilted Field Jacket - originally $168, on sale $100.80. I've been wanting this for over a year now and decided to pull the trigger during a sale earlier this year. It was backordered in the tall sizes for six weeks, but finally got delivered and was definitely worth the wait. I love that it's warmer than my regular field jacket and has snaps on the sides to make the fit more flattering. I'm hoping to get a lot more wear out of it this fall before my belly gets too big!
Total Spent: $271.09
Total Saved: $167.40
For November, I'll probably be looking for some holiday pieces (it's my favorite to dress for!) but I also already ordered a few things (including this vest) that I'm waiting to come that have already taken a chunk of the budget for the month.
Did you score any good deals this month??

These posts always sneak up on me, but look, it's time for another monthly budget post! I basically love everything I got this month, and so as to not double-gush, read on for everything I bought this month.
Target Tie-Front Skirt - $24.99 - seen here. I bought this a few months ago and realized I forgot to include it - it's so fun for fall! J. Crew Factory Plaid Flannel - originally $69.50, on sale $29.32. Who doesn't need another plaid shirt for fall? Apparently me. I may have a problem. Old Navy Jeggings - originally $39.99, on sale + used rewards $12.57. You may have seen me share these on Insta Stories, and they're back in stock! They really are a jegging and have an elastic waist instead of a zipper (shhhh don't tell) but they really look like normal jeans. You know, as long as you can't see the waistband. And they're so comfortable. BaubleBar Earrings- originally $38, used points $34. I wanted some statement earrings that would work for fall, and these definitely fit the bill! Plus they're somehow lighter than most of my other statement earrings - win!! L.L.Bean Pullover - originally $59.95, on sale and used giftcard $37.96 - seen here. I love a good pullover this time of year, and this one is perfect because it's quilted AND it has a pouch pocket in the front like a hoodie - so cozy! I got an XL because I wanted it slightly oversized, but definitely could have gone with a large instead. J. Crew Factory Plaid Blanket Scarf - originally $59.50, on sale $30.17 - seen here. What's not to love? Old Navy Plaid Button-Down - originally $29.99, on sale + used rewards $9.42. I'm wearing this as I write this post, and it's so cozy - surprisingly good quality for the price!! J. Crew Factory Sweater - originally $54.50, on sale $34.95. I already own this in navy, but I'm all about green this fall so I needed it in another color ;) Nike Air Max Thea Sneaker- $115, used giftcard $0. I was in desperate need of some comfier shoe options in my closet, and these sneakers definitely fit the bill - I love the black leather! Definitely elevates it from a regular sneaker. J. Crew Field Jacket- originally $148, on sale $103.60 - seen here. I don't know if I've gushed about this jacket enough yet, but it's basically everything I dreamed it would be. The perfect weight, the perfect size (I got a tall XL which is the perfect size in the shoulders and sleeves), it goes with everything, and somehow looks polished but still casual. I really wish I'd pulled the trigger on it a long time ago! LOFT Vintage Tee - originally $24.50, on sale $14.70. Not much to say here because, well, it's a tee, but I did successfully confuse the salesperson when I returned the other ten things I got in this order, and the total return didn't match up to the price I'd paid. Sorry, just took a $14 tee out of there ;) J. Crew Factory Plaid Flannel - originally $69.50, on sale $29.32. It turns out this is exactly the same shirt as the first plaid in this collage, just purchased a week apart. Really, I have a problem. Total Spent: $361.00
Total Saved: $202.92
Yep, over budget. I knew it was coming. I mean, look at how much I freaking bought!! I've been buying more and returning more as of late, which is a habit I really need to stop because going to Nordstrom multiple times a week to make returns is starting to get annoying. There isn't really anything I need for next month, except for a new winter coat which I'm still on the hunt for! If any tall ladies have a lead on a really long, really warm coat to get me through a Chicago winter please let me know!

Well it looks like my September and October shopping really did get flipped this year, because while I bought just three items in September I went a little crazy this month. Whoops. I say that because I usually barely shop in October, and one year even did a shopping ban.
I actually probably would have ended up under budget if these beautiful lace-up heels hadn't walked into my life. I'm not really a heels person because I'd much prefer to be comfortable (plus I have really fussy feet), but I've had these babies for a week now and have already managed to wear them three times. I wouldn't say they're SUPER comfortable or anything, but I did walk a mile in them last Friday because you have to walk a mile to get to anything in Chicago, and my feet felt fine afterwards!
So anyways, here's the damage for October:
LOFT Shawl Open Cardigan (in white and eggplant): originally $59.50, on sale $29.75 x2. This sweater is so cozy, not too oversized, and still the perfect length for leggings, so I had to buy two ;) LOFT Tunic Sweater (seen here): originally $49.50, on sale $24.75. Sam Edelman Lace-up Heels: $130. Love, love, love, love, love. J. Crew Factory Flannel Button Down (seen here): originally $69.50, on sale $34.50. The fit in this is "perfect fit" and yes, ohmygee it seriously is the perfect fit. So flattering. Target Scarf: $19.99. Because I definitely needed another scarf. L.L.Bean Scotch Plaid Shirt (in Black Watch and Prince Charles Edward): originally $44.95, on sale $35.96 x2. These are so warm and cozy I might buy a few more ;)
Total spent: $340.66
Total saved: $137.23
In all honesty, I did actually buy two more things that didn't wind up on the budget. Jeff and I bought each other some presents in a little fit of celebration from Vineyard Vines last week during their friends and family sale, and since they didn't come out of my normal clothing budget I decided not to include them. I got this adorable striped Shep Shirt and a flannel hat that I've been eyeing ever since I included it in this packing post last year. Jeff got a new button down because I bought him one Vineyard Vines shirt over the summer and turned him into a preppy little monster. They're basically all he wears now.
I honestly have no idea what I'll be shopping for next month. I thought I was going to snag this cute coat but tried it on over the weekend and didn't love it. I have been wanting a new pair of boots but haven't seen any I like yet so we'll see.

Oh hey, it's time for another budget post! This month I didn't shop with any sort of plan and just let the sales take me, so I ended up with some trendier and more fun items. I think it's okay though since I've been much more focused on picking up basics the past couple of months, and while basics are really important to a wardrobe you need a few fun pieces too! Here's what I picked up this month:
J. Crew Factory Tee - originally $39.50, on sale $18.99. I love the Artist tees (especially the striped versions!), they're just so flattering and soft, so I basically had to add this navy/maroon version into the mix. J. Crew Factory Vest - originally $108, on sale $64.50. I've thought about or tried buying this vest so many times, I'm glad it finally found a place in my closet! Old Navy Windowpane Scarf - originally $24.94, on sale $14.96. Scarves are one of those things I rarely wear and always have too many of so I didn't necessarily need another, but I loved the windowpane print and wanted another blanket scarf, so here it is ;)
Total spent: $98.45
Total saved: $73.99
Isn't it funny that I was way under budget last October too? It's weird to see that I really do have shopping patterns.
For next month, I'm looking to grab a pretty dress for all of the holiday events coming up, and hopefully either a new watch or some classic denim.
So I know I said I was going to try to stay below budget this month, but I'm not sure what happened, because I am waaaaaaay below. I just wasn't very into the shopping thing this month. I was really busy so I didn't hit any stores in person, and all of the online sales just exhausted me. The couple of things I did get I absolutely love - the two striped tops are kind of basics and are something I definitely needed in my closet, and the scarf I basically want to wear every day.
I'd say this certainly balances out my overspending in September! Next month, I'm going to try to hold back too since it'll be the start of present season, but I am looking to pick up one of the laptop bags I had my eye on - maybe on Black Friday?
