Last Days of Summer

Dress (similar) - Target / Scarf (similar) - Old Navy / Hat (exact, similar) - Tuckernuck / Bag (similar) - Ann Taylor / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society / Necklace - Stella & Dot

We're in the middle of a heat wave here in Chicago (hellooooo, 90 degrees!) so I'm squeaking out one last wear of my favorite summer clothes before the cool weather rolls in. Give me all of the little white dresses, please!

I don't know about you, but I'm not particularly excited about fall rolling in quite yet. Summer in Chicago is basically the best thing ever and I missed over a month of it between traveling for work and going on vacation and volunteering, so I want more warm nights and days at the beach! Plus Jeff and I just discovered over the weekend that there's the cutest little gelato place a couple of blocks away from us, so we definitely need to fit in a lot of gelato while the weather cooperates!

Of course, we were talking about a family trip to the pumpkin patch and planning a trip down to my alma matter for some football, so maybe I'm a tinge excited for the next season. Oh, who am I kidding, you all saw my last budget post. You and I both know I'll be pulling out my pumpkin candles and rocking scarves and cardigans within a week.

Blue & Dots

Shirt - JCrew Factory / Sweater (similar) - Gap Factory / Jeans - Gap / Necklace - c/o Lovelywholesale.com / Flats (similar) - Tory Burch / Watch - Kate Spade

Don't tell this sweater, but I thought purchasing it may have been a mistake. I grabbed it in two colors, but was worried the blue was too bright and that I would never wear it. Wrong-o. Turns out its twin, in boring gray, is the sweater that never gets worn, while this bright blue is on a weekly rotation. I think it's mostly because I'm excited to have something that's actually a color to wear. My closet has somehow been taken over by neutrals, it's mostly black, gray, and white these days.

Are you all in neutrals, or is there lots of color in your fall wardrobe?

Ensemble: Shades of Blue

I love when I can throw some sequins into my day!  With my trusty chambray they feel super casual.

Tee - Gap / Chambray - Target / Jeans - Gap / Booties - Steve Madden / Necklace - Baublebar (similar here)

Remember those booties I needed and couldn't make an outfit without?  I went into store after store, scoured the internets, and bought and returned several pairs before I finally found a pair to my liking.  I think they were worth the wait ;)

Things tall people get irrationally excited about: when pants are actually a tinge too long!  I remember being in middle school when my mom would only buy me new uniform pants at the beginning of the school year - by summer my khakis would be three or four inches too short!  Super embarrassing for an eleven-year-old.  That middle schooler inside of me is doing cartwheels over that extra quarter inch in these photos.  Of course, it's an imaginary middle schooler inside of me, because I've never been able to do a cartwheel.
