Four Ways to Wear Green: St. Patrick's Day Style

When I used to go out for St. Patrick's Day, it was all about getting as much green in as possible and going crazy with accessories (ahem, see here).  Now I want to wear some green, but in a classier way.  Here are a couple of ways I've worn green lately, from more casual to dressy styles.  I loved that dressy look, but I'm probably going to go for the green cardi and some riding boots.

Outfit Details: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Tomorrow we're going to hit up a little breakfast party and then see where the day takes us.  I'm not that into St. Patrick's Day anymore, the past two years I've been home by 5 or 6pm.  What I'm really looking forward to right now is our little trip to Key West next week - I guess we'll get to see how they celebrate!

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?  Have any fun plans for this weekend?  I'd love to hear!

Navy & Green

Navy and green do not make up my typical color palette.  I wear them separately but I don't think I've ever tried them together.  Then a Saturday came along when I felt like actually getting dressed instead of hanging out in my pajamas until it was time to go out to dinner, and the blue and green really caught my eye.

Aaaaand just realized I was wearing all JCrew.  Oh dear.  This blog thing seems to be changing me, especially since I didn't buy my first piece from JCrew until last summer.

I also wore this skirt here and here.

Green & Coated

Emerald may have been the color of 2013, but I seem to be wearing it everywhere these days.

Sweater - JCrew Factory / Top - NY&Co (old, similar) / Jeans - Old Navy / Flats - Steve Madden (similar and super adorable)

I have been less a fan of the wind lately, but it still seems to be everywhere in 2014.

I also rocked coated denim here

Emerald & Lace

I can't help myself.  I want to wear this skirt everywhere.  The temperatures outside aren't entirely conducive, but I'm surviving.  Paired with this adorable top I got from my mom for Christmas (thanks Mom!) and I'm a happy camper.

Top - JCrew Factory / Skirt - JCrew / Flats - Payless / Bracelet - Stella & Dot

I also wore this skirt (and froze my little booty off) here.

Emerald and Dots

Every year around December this green cardigan becomes my new best friend.  Paired with polka dots and some pretty jewels and I'm golden.

Looking at this post is making me realize how much my style has evolved over the past couple of years.  I never used to wear button downs, and if I added a cardigan to an outfit it was strictly for warmth purposes.  I threw on an outfit the other day when all of my clothes were dirty and was instantly taken back to 2008 Kristina, who wore a lot of v-neck tee shirts with camis and rarely sported any jewelry.  If only that girl could see me now, she'd be so proud!

Trending: Emerald

Today I'm partnering with a couple of girls to show different ways to wear emerald.  I remember first falling in love with emerald when I was shopping for my senior prom dress.  I'm pretty sure emerald was the color of 2005 too because it was everywhere.  Sadly, I didn't end up finding that emerald dress and had to go with mint instead (not quite as trendy then).  I'm excited that emerald is showing up again since it's a redhead's best friend.

Make sure to check out the other girl's outfits here:

Ashley from Ash 'n' Fashn
Elizabeth from Undeniably, me

Top - Express (really old, but somehow has a trendy jeweled collar?) / Skirt - Banana Republic / Clutch - Jennifer Lopez (old) / Shoes - ShoeMint

I wore this on Wednesday to a dinner with a couple of our friends at the top of the Hancock Building to celebrate our engagement.  The restaurant is beautiful, it has views of the city and the lake.   It was fun to have an excuse to dress up, there are very few restaurants in Chicago where tennis shoes are not acceptable.  The dinner was five courses and each course included a wine pairing, which was a liiiiitle more intense than we (or at least I) expected.  And then dessert was a gigantic ball of chocolate.  Some people seem to claim that they have a separate pocket of space in their stomach specially designed for dessert. Sadly, I am not one of those people and had let a lot of mine go to waste.  I'm sorry I let you down, giant ball of chocolatey goodness.

What are your plans for this weekend?  It's Jeff's 10 year high school reunion (I've somehow managed to let slip both of our ages in this post) so we're hanging out with some of his friends who are coming into town tonight and then going to the reunion on Saturday.  We're also having dinner with my parents and Jeff's parents on Sunday so they can get to know each other a little better/so we can celebrate some more.  I foresee lots of champagne in our future...

Ensemble: Emerald + Dots

I love my new neighborhood.  It's right in the middle of everything, yet my street is so quiet it could be in a small town.  I think my favorite part is that there's a park a block away in either direction.  My boyfriend for some reason thinks we don't belong in the parks since we don't have a dog or a baby (which are very abundant here), so I suggested we get an empty stroller to push around and just tell people the baby is asleep.  Which, frankly, is a lot creepier than just hanging out in the park sans [fur]baby.

 Sweater - F21 (similar here) / Blouse - NY&Co (similar here) / Jeans - Gap / Boots - Enzo Angiolini / Bracelets - Target and ASOS / Watch - Michael Kors

On a sidebar, I (temporarily) lost the charger for my fancy camera when I moved, so I have a couple sets of pictures on my old camera - whoops!  Don't worry you guys, I found it, along with my tax forms.  Haven't found my leather waterproofing spray though, which would really come in handy with all of the snow we've been getting...
