Review: Kraft Fresh Take Mix

I was walking through the loop a couple of weeks ago on one of the hottest days of the year, when someone shoved a couple free samples of Kraft's new Fresh Take seasoning mixes into my hands.  Their strategy for passing out samples left something to be desired (why were they handing out something that needs to be refrigerated on a 100 degree day?) but I thought I'd try it anyway.

So what is it?  A mixture of spices, breadcrumbs, and cheese neatly parceled in a plastic bag.  The idea is, you open the separators on the bag to mix the spices and cheese together, and toss chicken (or whatever protein you want) in the bag before baking.

Overall, I thought it was easy, and was pretty tasty.  The boyfriend gave it a positive review too.  The chicken ended up crispy, not cheesy like I expected, and the spice mix was pretty good.

But would I actually buy it?  Probably not.  Because, really, how hard is it to throw some spices and cheese in a ziplock bag?  If you're looking to save a minute or two or don't want to think about what you're making it would be right for you. I personally would rather put the ingredients together myself so I knew exactly what was in it.

White & Gingham

We've been having cooler weather for a week or two now, which is giving me an excuse to rock my white jeans and button downs.

Shirt - Gap / Jeans - Old Navy / Bag - Kate Spade (similar here) / Necklace - Baublebar (in gold) / Sandals - Target

While taking these pictures, a little girl ran up to me and asked what I was doing, and then asked if I would take pictures of her.  Future generation of bloggers right there ;)

This weekend...

This weekend I...

- got to rock my new romper and glitter clutch
- hit up a Cubs game with the boyfriend
- said goodbye to my new sister-in-law, who is now reunited with her husband overseas
- once again got four mosquito bites along with a tiny bit of a sunburn
- had some friends over for a boozy brunch complete with cinnamon toast french toast
- made friends with an adorable bulldog whose name is Briggs but goes by Mr. Pig
- managed to stay up to watch all of Gangster Squad instead of falling asleep 10 minutes in like I do every time we watch a movie

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Easy DIY Lucite Tray

My favorite DIYs are the incredibly simple ones, especially on a Friday when my brain is fried!

I love the look of trays, they somehow make my clutter look clean and organized.  I saw this project for a DIY lucite tray out of a clear plastic picture frame, and thought duh!  Of course it can be a tray.

I went out to Michael's and bought a clear box frame and a piece of scrapbooking paper.

I took out the cardboard insert and turned the frame upside down, and voila!  A tray!

Then I cut the paper to size and put it in the tray.  I think someday I might take the paper out and glue on some gold studs like this diy instead.

And done!  Easiest DIY ever, am I right?!

I hope you have a great weekend.  Tonight I'm going to a going away party for my new sister-in-law (now it's her turn to move to Korea!), then tomorrow the boyfriend and I are having some people over for brunch and then hitting a Cubs game.  And hopefully also lots of sleeping!

P.S. I'm being featured on Simple Easy Style today.

Romping

I saw this romper on The Glossy Life and was like, "Yeah, I need that!"

Then I got it in the mail and said "Eh," so I took it back.

But I got home the next day, to find another package at my house with the same romper inside.  Just like the cat that kept coming back (did you sing that song in elementary school?)  So I thought I had to give it another try.

Romper - Loft / Necklace - c/o Shopbevel / Heels - Steve Madden (old, similar here)

Fiiiiiine romper, I guess you can stay.  Until I realize I need to go to the bathroom, at least.

P.S. If anyone is interested in guest posting while I'm in Spain and Morocco  I still have a few spaces left.  Just shoot me an email at kristina@kristinadoestheinternets.com.

Tulip + Stripes

The cold weather snap over the weekend was a little confusing (the high in Chicago on Saturday was only 66!) but I actually enjoyed the chance to wear long sleeves and this new tulip skirt from Target.  I wore this out to get some barbecue with the boyfriend's parents in the suburbs, which gave me the chance to snap some pics with lots of green in them for once.

Tee - JCrew Factory / Skirt - Target / Shoes - Shoe Mint / Necklace - Michelle Starbuck Designs / Belt - Target (really old) / Bracelet - Michael Kors / Earrings - JCrew Factory

This belt was my favorite back in high school and college, I wore it alllllllmost every day (once I got over wearing white belts with star cutouts/studs every day).  It's a bit too big for me now, but I'm glad I held onto it because it definitely still works tied like this.

While I prefer warm weather during the summer, a cold snap every once and a while is fine by me!
