Suede Jacket for Spring

Jacket (exact here in a couple of sizes, or a super similar jacket, and another) - Kut from the Kloth / Tank and Earrings (similar here and here) - LOFT / Jeans (these are my fav - not see through and they don't stretch out!) - Gap / Flats (similar here) - Banana Republic / Bag (similar here and here) - Kate Spade / Necklace - Stella & Dot

Last week, as I complained yet again about the lack of spring weather, I said to myself, "Kristina, get a grip."

I mean, I live in Chicago. Cold springs are kind of our thing.

Until I looked back at some of my posts from last spring! I was going through them to repin some content to Pinterest, and I really was just wearing little outfits like this, and not topping them with a full winter coat. Really, when we took these photos, Jeff had the furry hood of my favorite gray wool coat over his head to keep it from getting dirty. Just know, that if I ever look cold in a photo (ahem - like here - get those shoulders down girl!) that Jeff is likely wearing my coat behind the lens. He loves it, definitely not embarrassing for him at all ;)

Well anyway, to try to make it through this chilly spring weather, I've been doing the double coat - with my winter coat on top, and this little suede jacket underneath! This jacket is so soft and comfortable to wear - it's kind of like wearing a cardigan! I originally bought it for fall, but the pretty taupe/gray color works really well with spring colors too.

A Little Neon for Spring

Tunic - Vineyard Vines / Jeans - Old Navy / Bag (similar) - Ann Taylor / Sandals (super similar) - Dolce Vita / Earrings - old, unknown (I looked and looked and couldn't find anything similar, but here's a neon pink pair and here's a similar shape) / Bracelet (similar) - BaubleBar

You know how I got super excited for the warm weather last week? I also managed to pull out this new tunic from Vineyard Vines that I freaking love. It's cute and fun for beachwear, but I love that it can also be worn to work (but maybe with less shredded jeans ;). Just seeing it in my closet makes me happy, despite the SNOW we're supposed to have today! So you guys, let's just pretend it's warm and sunny outside and that it totally makes sense that I'm wearing this spring-y look on the blog today.

Vineyard Vines is one of those brands that's surprised me lately. I used to think it was super preppy and really only for the East Coast beach crowd, but their collections have slowly been evolving into things I can see myself wearing everywhere, and not just when I'm visiting Martha's Vineyard. Not that I've ever been to the Vineyard. Heck, I've barely been to New York City. I say "barely" because I went once on a school trip when I was 14, and they really only showed us Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. It was also my first time on an airplane, and I almost choked to death on an ice cube. Luckily those things melt.

Speaking of travel, I feel like I've mentioned our upcoming trip to southeast Asia in just about every post lately, but that's only because I'm so excited! It's starting to feel really real now, instead of just something we've been talking about doing since my brother was visiting last summer. He and his wife live in South Korea, and we'd been throwing around the idea of meeting up with them somewhere for their spring break. Well, much to all of our surprise that trip is now happening in just three weeks! I realized that if there's anything else I want to buy for the trip I really have to get it now. So I've been shopping for us (mostly me, but Jeff needs some new swim trunks and shorts too) basically non-stop. A few things still on my wishlist? Some new go-anywhere sandals, a few lightweight tops and dresses that can work for day or night, and some crazy earrings ;) So, can we leave now already?!

Heat Wave!

Tee - LOFT / Jeans - Old Navy / Booties (super similar, I also love this pair that has the cutest bow in the back!) - Sole Society / Bag (similar) - Ann Taylor / Necklace (similar) - Madewell

Oh hey there, happy Tuesday (aka, my Monday ;)!! I had yesterday off of work for President's Day, and as usual, I had big plans of accomplishing a lot, but ended up crossing one thing off the list and then spent the rest of the day shopping - whoops! I tried on a lot but only managed to buy one thing, but I took a lot of fitting room snaps so I think a little review is in order for tomorrow. At least I made it out of the house yesterday - the last time I had a three day weekend I ended up spending all of my Monday on the couch. I'm nothing if not an excellent couch potato.

Of course, I basically had to go outside, because Chicago has been in the middle of a heat wave the past few days. Like a no coat, windows open kind of heat wave. It's absolutely nuts for this time of year in Chicago. I basically had to pull out some of my warmer weather pieces, like these white jeans. Usually they wait at least another month to make their first appearance of the year! I actually only have one pair of white jeans in my closet right now but I'm thinking I need a backup - maybe this pair that claims to resist stains. Because if you're wearing white jeans, it's basically a given that you'll spill something on yourself. Or that a strange dog will jump on you and leave muddy footprints behind, or that a guy will hit you with his bike tire, both things that have killed my white jeans in the past. RIP.

I also was excited to wear this bell-sleeved tee again, except this time without a jacket! That is, until I drove up to my parents' house where it was 10 degrees cooler, and then my sister made fun of me for not selecting a weather-appropriate ensemble. Whoops. This tee has quickly become a favorite in my closet - the blush pink is so pretty, plus it's really easy to wear. I saw a ton of them in stores yesterday, and discovered it also comes in black and olive, in case pink isn't your thing ;)

Still in White

Blouse - Target / Denim - Old Navy / Bag (similar) - Sole Society / Sandals - Dolce Vita / Bracelet and Earrings - BaubleBar

I saw this top, and after about a second I decided I needed it, and then after another second decided I was going to wear it with these white jeans as many times as I possibly could. I actually haven't shopped for clothes at Target in a while, mostly because there no longer is one that I aimlessly wander through during my lunch hour every day. Instead, most of my Target trips involve sneakily sending Jeff off to search for something so I can quickly raid the home goods section, but that's neither here nor there. In my absence so many new brands have appeared. This shirt is by Knox Rose, which may be my new fav. All of their clothes have this "cool girl don't care" attitude (especially this amazing plaid fringe cardi!) that I love and try to create at home. Unfortunately I always end up looking a little more "not-cool trying to hard" instead. The struggle is real.

A Little Ruffle

Shirt - Banana Republic / Jeans - Old Navy / Sandals - Dolce Vita / Bag - Rebecca Minkoff / Necklace - Stella & Dot / Bracelet - Michael Kors

I've been super into fun sleeves lately (ahem, ahem) so when I saw this top I basically had to have it. I must have waited a little too long (because I can't handle buying something that isn't on sale) and by the time I went to buy it the regular size must have been sold out because I accidentally bought a petite! I'm 5'9" so you'd think a petite wouldn't work on me, but I'm also really short waisted so it actually worked on me. I figured out that I was short waisted for the first time when I was in middle school and my friends were talking about how they could never imagine wearing high-waisted jeans because if their jeans covered their belly buttons they would "like, die." But all of my jeans, even low-rise, always covered my belly button! I was in middle school though, so I said that I would "totally die" too while nervously pulling down my shirt. Now though, I can proudly admit that I'm a short person on the top and a really tall person on the bottom ;)

Don't Kiss Me...

Tee (similar) and Jeans - Old Navy / Sweater (similar) - Banana Republic / Booties (similar) - Sole Society / Bag - Michael Kors / Necklace - unknown (a gift! similar here

This necklace was a birthday gift from my sister - it has our wedding date in roman numerals on it! This was from Etsy, I saw something similar with coordinates here.

...Because I'm not Irish! Although I do get asked if I'm Irish at least once a week haha. I guess the hair throws people off a bit. Anyway, Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I hope you found a little green in your closet so you don't get pinched. I thought that this tee was the only green I owned, but then I remembered this blouse - I guess I had another option after all.

Now that the weather is warming up a little I felt like it was time to pull out my white jeans again, and weirdly the exact same thing happened as last spring - I showed up and was #twinning with the same friend! We must be spring spirit animals. Same jeans, same booties, and even the same personalized necklaces having to do with our weddings. So weird.

Are you celebrating Saint Patrick's Day? I hate corned beef and cabbage and we gave up drinking for the month, so I guess wearing a little green is all I'll be doing today ;)
