A Little More Lavender & White

Blouse - Banana Republic / Skirt (similar) and Bag (similar) - Ann Taylor / Heels (similar) - Sole Society / Necklace - J. Crew Factory

It turns out that besides my blue & pink obsession, I'm also really into lavender and white (ahem). It's such a pretty color combination that I wear it year after year. This shell actually has a pretty lazer-cut pattern on the bottom bottom so I've previously only worn it with pants and shorts, but I realized how versatile it can be when tucked into a skirt for work. My company doesn't have a dress code for the office so I usually keep things pretty casual, but it's fun to dress up a little every once and a while.

I bought this skirt last year when I found it on super-sale, and while I probably didn't need another white skirt (I think I have five or six in my closet!) this one has actually gotten a lot of use - thanks to the shape its great for work, date night, or a wedding or baby shower. This particular skirt is no longer in stores, but I linked up a couple of similar skirts below:

Summer Sundress Dressed Up / Dressed Down

Dressed down: Jacket / Earrings / Bag / Espadrilles
Dressed up: Heels / Earrings / Pashmina / Bag

Pretty little summer dresses are my favorite thing to shop for. I've been seriously holding myself back because after what seemed like just about everyone I knew got married last summer, this year we don't have any weddings until fall! With just some baby showers on the horizon I felt like I didn't need any pretty new dresses, until I realized just how easy it is to dress down a cute little sundress. With a crossbody bag and a denim jacket, this ruffled number feels just as appropriate for a weekend running around the city as it does with heels and a pretty pashmina for a summer party. Not pictured: the pretty ruffled straps on the back of this dress - so cute!

Completely unrelated: my brother and his wifey come home today! They've lived in South Korea for the past couple of years, and are coming back for their summer break. I haven't seen them since they were here last summer for my wedding, so needless to say I'm a teensy bit excited ;) We're having a family dinner at my parents' house to celebrate, and then a couple of family parties over the weekend - I can't wait!

Summer Tunic

Tunic (similar here and here) - LOFT Factory / Shorts and Necklace - J. Crew Factory / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society / Bag (similar) - Coach Factory / Watch - Wristology

Aaaaand we're back in blue and white and pink! Why mess with a good thing? This tunic was one of my emergency purchases in Charlotte last month, and I am so glad to have it in my closet. I basically fear the sun (#palepeopleproblems) so having a lightweight top with sleeves is so nice for a day wandering the city - no sunscreen required! Oh, who am I kidding, I still was wearing SPF 70.

I had a weirdly blogger-y day while out and about in Chicago in this outfit - not only did I pass two different women out taking outfit photos, but I also ran into one of my favorite bloggers at the grocery store! I'm never one to introduce myself, so instead I just creepily kept making eye contact with her each time we passed each other in the aisles - I'm sure she loved that.

This Weekend...

Oh hey there! Another weekend down. I don't have a ton to report, except that we hosted our first party up on our new roof deck! I somehow managed not to take any pictures (facepalm) but we had a blast despite the 95 degree temps. I tried a couple of new recipes, and this asparagus salad may be a new favorite. We're having another party next Sunday with some of my family, and that salad is definitely going to be on the menu again! Besides the party, we mostly spent the weekend cleaning and getting in lots of good couch time. Hope you had a good one!

Friday Finds

Say whaaaaa, another Friday?! Along with a couple of cute blue & white items (that would be so cute with that pink necklace, yes I'm aware that I have a problem) I also found this adorable gold pineapple ice bucket. I mean, do I need a gold pineapple ice bucket? Does anyone need a gold pineapple ice bucket? Probably no, but that doesn't mean I can't drool over it ;)

Spring Oldies

Sweater (similar) - LOFT / Skirt (similar) - Banana Republic / Jacket (similar) - J.Crew Factory / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society / Bag (similar) - Ann Taylor / Necklace (similar) - Madewell / Bracelet - Michael Kors

This is another outfit pulled from things I basically forgot I had. I said last week that I'm always rooting around my closet in spring searching for pastels in the spring, and this is a perfect example. This skirt was purchased several years ago as a winter white piece, so in my mind it was only for fall and winter. I actually really wanted to buy this skirt but realized that I already had something almost identical and probably didn't need two flippy white minis. And then this sweater has been around for a long time - I actually wore it for our engagement photos! See guys - don't just throw out your clothes if you haven't worn them in a while!

What are you guys up to this week? We planned a little deck party on our roof deck for this upcoming weekend so I'm in party planning mode. When I was little I used to make fun of my mom for these insane party notebooks she took, where she kept notes about what they made, whether there was enough food or not, who came to the party, etc. etc. That level of organization always seemed crazy to me when I was younger, but now I wish I could keep up like that! We've thrown parties before but I still never know how much food to make. Wish me luck!
