What I'm Shopping - Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Today is the day that I get to access the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! This year, Nordstrom did staggered sale access based on how many dollars you drop there every year. It turns out, I drop medium dollars ;) It seems kind of silly that they set up access this way, because if they wanted to build influencer buzz, they did it 10 days too early for me and 16 days too early for the general public, who get to shop on 8/16.

Anyway, here's what's currently saved to my wishlist - now I just have to trim it down a little lot haha ;) I'm definitely going for these booties in cognac to hopefully fill a hole in my wardrobe, and I'm ordering this coat in a 3T for Mia with the hopes we'll be able to roll the sleeves and get two year's worth of wear out of it.

Are you shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year? What's on your wishlist? Do you have access yet?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try Ons

Woo hoooooo, my full NSale order finally came! I should have sprung for next day delivery, but you know, I can't ever bring myself to pay for shipping so I waited. Good news is, a lot of this stuff sold out right away but now is back in stock! I honestly can't believe that all but one thing I bought is still available for you!!

I also am surprised by how much I like everything I ordered. I ordered way too many things, so that makes it tough for me because I'll have to decide what to return! Good for you though, because I have a lot of gems to show you.

So let's just dive right on in!

Dress - Halogen, wearing an XL. Currently $65.90, after the sale $99.00. Still available in 3 colors/patterns. I love this style of dress because it's one of those things that will work for so many occasions. You could wear it like this for date night, church, or a wedding. Toss on a jacket and it would be perfect for work. Or you could add sandals and a denim jacket and wear it out to brunch or running around on the weekend. The micropleats in this are so cute, they start smaller at the top and are bigger at the bottom. It's a loose, swingy cut so you could drop down a size if you prefer it to fit closer to the body. I like it at my normal size though because it's really comfortable. Definitely a keeper!

Pants - Leith, wearing an XL. Currently $45.90, after the sale $69.00. Also available in tan. I have been wanting more dress pants because I currently only own black skinny pants for when I need to dress up. These are a little hard to photograph but they're really pretty in person. They are high waisted, which doesn't always work on me. You just have to find the right top to pair them with - something simple that lets the pants shine! Online and in this photo they look more eggplant, but I thought they were a bit closer to brown in real life. I think I will be keeping these.

Jacket - BlankNYC, wearing an XL. Currently $58.90, after the sale $88.00. Available in 3 colors. I freaking love this jacket. It's a faux leather that's really light and not bulky, and the lining is super soft. I love the cut, it's really flattering. I have a black moto jacket that I bought nearly 10 years ago that's a cotton twill, so I'm excited to replace it with this!

Skirt - BP, wearing an XL. Currently $31.90, on sale $49.00. Almost sold out, just this color. I used to own a bunch of skirts like this so I'm glad to have a new one in my closet! It will be great for transitioning into fall weather, and the brown is a pretty neutral that will go with a lot.

Sweater - Caslon, wearing an XL. Currently $38.90, after the sale $59.00. Not in stock in blue, but in two different stripes and a yellow. This sweater is going to be a great basic for fall and winter. It's a really pretty color, it's got a good high-low length that will work great with leggings too, and it has a tulip rounded split hem that's really flattering. I can definitely see wearing it for work or the weekend!

Booties - Vince Camuto, TTS. Currently $79.90, after the sale $119.95. Available in 8 colors. I always am on the hunt for a good inbetween bootie/sandal, that will work in weird Chicago spring and fall weather. This is the pink color ("Precious Suede") and they actually look less pink in person, they're actually a pretty good nude for my skin tone. The heel isn't too high, and they have a velcro closure so they're easy to slip on and run when the baby is screaming at me. I haven't walked too much in them so I'll have to make sure they meet my impossibly high bar for comfort, but so far they are keepers!

Boots - Vince Camuto, TTS. Currently $159.90, after the sale $239.95. In stock in 3 colors. These were the thing I was most excited to get in the mail, and I am so bummed because the shaft height doesn't work on me! They hit right at my knee, which means they're uncomfortable to sit down in and look super awkward with skirts. I have crazy long legs though (I wear a 35" inseam in pants I want to hit the floor, 33" for skinny jeans) so on most people they would hit over the knee and be fine. They are really comfortable though and have only a 2.5" heel so I'm super bummed to be missing out!

Sweater - Topshop, wearing an XL. Currently $44.90, after the sale $68.00. Still in stock. I ordered this thinking it probably wouldn't work on me, and I was right. It just isn't very flattering, especially in person (I actually think it looks fine in the photo). It is really warm and soft and cozy though, so if you aren't as busty it may work on you.

Fleece - Patagonia, wearing an XL. Currently $89.90, after the sale $129. Available in 3 colors. I have a bunch of pullover fleeces, but I wanted something zip-up that would be easier to toss on over things. It is so soft and cozy, and really warm. I don't love the white on me though so I think it's going back.

Jacket - Patagonia, wearing an XL. Currently $199.90, after the sale $279.00. Still available in 3 colors. My work teased me last summer by giving me this jacket and then took it back and said our team was supposed to get a different black jacket that they were ordering. I still haven't gotten the black jacket, but the tease of the white one made me realize I wanted a white coat to wear in Chicago when it's 40 degrees in May. This is a good weight that I think I'd wear down to 25 or 30 degrees. I love that it has a hood, I always want to wear something hooded when it rains or snows so I don't have to worry about an umbrella. It's super cute and cut well so you don't feel like a snowman.

Pajama Top - BP, wearing a 1X. Currently $25.90, after the sale $39.00. Currently available in 3 colors. I bought the 1X because it was the only size available when I ordered. It's a little big but actually not that bad. The matching shorts are sadly sold out, but I would actually go down two sizes in these, they are cute as a part of the set but look weird by themselves. While the shorts are sold out, there are still matching joggers available.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Oh hey, did you miss me?! I was out of town with Jeff's family for a wedding two weeks ago, and then in Wisconsin with my family last week. I was planning on checking in at some point, but really it turned out that I liked vacation waaaaaay too much to step away to my computer ;) I'd like to say that it was because of the internet being weak and going down a few times, but really, I was too busy catching fish and taking Mia swimming!

So, in case you hadn't heard, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened to cardholders last week, and will open up to everyone this Friday. I took a look through literally everything that's on sale to find my favorites for you. To be completely honest, I wasn't wowed by this year's sale. Most of the things included are basics I already own or slightly different versions of items that were available in years past. In my digging though I was able to find a few gems, and of course, I still managed to order a bunch for myself and a few things for Jeff too!

A lot of influencers are creating hype to buy now and fast if you want something. I've found a few things that sold out, but really don't feel pressure to buy something if it isn't something you love. Remember, it's just a sale, and a lot of this stuff will be back on sale later in the fall.

If you are shopping, here are my top picks:

What I actually ordered:

Items I already own and love:

Shoes:

Bags and Accessories:

Work Clothes:

Casual Clothes:

Men's:

Babies:

Home:

NSale Try Ons

Almost everything I ordered from Nordstrom arrived yesterday (the majority in one, comically large box) so I tried everything on for you last night! Unfortunately for my wallet, I liked more stuff than I thought I would, with the exception of the shoes. I'm sharing and linking everything, even items that are sold out, in the hope that they come back into stock when the sale goes live to the public on Friday. If you're a cardholder you can shop now, otherwise start making a wishlist!

Madewell Cardigan - originally $150, on sale $99.90, wearing a size large
I freaking love this cardigan, it really feels like a high end piece. It's really thick and warm, and I love the waffle texture. It feels like something that could be worn as a coat or a sweater. The sleeves are also long enough on me (I actually have them rolled here).

Zella Leggings - originally $54.00, on sale $35.90, wearing a size xl
I didn't actually buy a new pair of leggings this year because these have held up so well! They're thick which makes them really flattering, with a high waist which means they don't fall down. I also love that the inseam is actually ankle length on me. I'm wearing these leggings with every outfit below, because it turns out I didn't actually order any pants this year!

Cole Haan Mules - originally $140, on sale $92.90, fit TTS
I love the look of these, the tiny heel is flattering and the pointy toe is so chic. But my toe area is slightly wide (usually not enough to necessitate wearing a wide size) and the way these come in to a point was just not comfortable to me.

Halogen Tee - originally $39.00, on sale $24.90, wearing a size xl
I got the scoop neck striped version of this tee last year and loved it, but don't love it quite as much this year in this color. It's a little thin and shiny, so I would need to wear a tank underneath. That being said, with the price and the comfort level of this tee, I'm going to keep it to layer under cardigans. What I do like is the tunic length and rounded hemline - it's perfect for wearing over leggings!

Thread & Supply Fleece Pullover - originally $78.00, on sale $51.90, wearing a size large in ivory
I thought 100% this would be going back based on the sizing description - I'm wearing a size large which is said to be a size 6-8 (ha, I'm usually in a 14 these days!) but the fit is still oversized! So I'd definitely suggest sizing down in this. It is amazingly cozy, like basically the softest thing I've ever put on my body. Word on the street from other bloggers is that while the tag says it's dry clean only, washing on delicate works just fine.

Adidas Sneakers - originally $85.00, on sale $63.90, fit TTS
I was worried the color of these would be a neon peach, but in real life they're actually more  pink and not neon at all. I also clearly have super picky feet (just read all of my shoe reviews in this post!) and these are so comfortable - I love the "sock" fit with no tags to rub my feet, and that they dip low on the sides so they don't hit my ankle bones either. Now to just decide whether to keep the pink or the grey... or both?

Halogen Cashmere Poncho - originally $149.00, on sale $98.90
I thought this was more of a true poncho, but the sides are actually completely open. That being said, it's really soft and comfortable, and really cute in person - I feel like the picture isn't doing it justice! Definitely a keeper.

Gentle Souls Loafers - originally $149.95, on sale $99.90, fit TTS
So these are definitely grandma shoes (I mean, just look at the brand!) but grandma shoes might be what I need - they're so freaking comfortable!! They have a cushioned insole with heel and arch support, and the leather is super soft so there isn't any rubbing - no need to break in! My feet are going to love me when I wear these to work events this fall!

Sole Society Tote - originally $64.95, on sale $42.90
This tote is gorgeous in person, I love the mauve color!! It's such a pretty choice for fall. I love the hardware on the handles and the outside pocket - perfect for storing your phone on the go. It's also big enough to hold my laptop! Don't get scared off by the low star rating - apparently the one person who's reviewed it loved it but thought it was too big - what??

BP. Plaid Poncho - originally $39.00, on sale $25.90
Cute poncho - what more is there to say?! If it's in stock definitely grab this one!! Just a note that this is also completely open on the sides, but for some reason I expected it here.

UGG Waterproof Wedge Boot - originally $199.95, on sale $129.90
I really liked these at first - mainly for the concept. My friend got last year's version and I was jealous that she had such a cute snow boot option. They have cozy fur insoles like all UGG boots and actually aren't too high of a wedge. But they did hit my ankles in a weird way - something I thought could be remedied with socks. The more I wore them though, the more they started to pinch my toes, so they're headed back.

Leith Cardigan - originally $65.00, on sale $43.90, wearing a size xl
This cardigan is comfy, a cute color, and flattering. I love that the sleeves are long enough (cuffing them here) and that the length isn't too long so I can wear it with shorter coats and not look like a dummy.

Madewell Mule Sandals - originally $148.00, on sale $98.90, fit TTS
I wanted to love these, I really did. The heel height isn't too high and I love the color. But, the front cut out pinched down on my toes with every step. So, back they go!

Leith Doloman Sleeve Cardigan - originally $65.00, on sale $42.90, wearing a size large
I think I would have kept this if I didn't realize I already have something just like it, and liked the other pink Leith cardigan better! But this cardigan is also really comfortable and cute, so I wouldn't not recommend it.

Adidas Sneakers - originally $85.00, on sale $63.90, fit TTS
These are the exact same sneaker as the pink - just have to decide which color I like better!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - First Glance Picks

Oh hey there, in case you somehow haven't heard the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today for cardholders (apply here if you want to shop the sale early - otherwise full access starts on July 20th). There's always a ton of hype around the sale, but I wasn't too excited for it from looking at the catalogue. However, now that I'm able to see everything that's available, I'm getting really pumped for all of the basics, as well as seeing a lot of my favorites from the sale last year come back.

Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns with an unlimited return policy (I seriously saw a woman return a pair of boots she had bought five years ago on a card that was now expired, and they gave her a full refund!) so my recommendation is, if you see something you think you'd want, just buy it now since you can easily return it later. Last year I tried to budget and only ended up keeping a few things from the sale, and ended up going back and buying a lot of the basics from the sale later at full price.

So, onto the good stuff!! Let's start with bottoms. These leggings are my absolute favorite and I buy a new pair every year (come in plus sizes too) because they're so comfortable, have a long enough inseam for me, and don't fall down. I also grabbed these faux leather leggings last year and love them (worn here) - they're also available in a moto style. I also bought these jeans last year and love them, they're perfect if you carry a little more weight around your middle.

Okay, now it's on to sweaters! I'm clearly dying to add a pink cardigan to my closet - I already ordered this one ;) But really, the thing I would snag now would be a poncho sweater - I have a feeling this plaid one is going to sell out ASAP!!

There weren't a ton of coats and jackets that caught my eye, but if you've been loving the burgundy coat that I share all the time (including in our Paris photos!), there's a super similar one on sale now! This jacket is also really similar to the faux suede jacket I snagged last year (worn here). I'm also really strongly considering this zip-up casual jacket - Jeff has one like it and I was jealous of it all of last year!

OMG, shoes. Lol, did I wake up a little too early this morning? What I'm most exited about are sneakers in this sale, which may be a sign I'm getting old - how cute are these pink ones?! I'm also loving the idea of a waterproof boot for winter so I don't have to wear my snowboots every day like I did last year - either these heeled boots or the over the knee version.

As far as tops go, I'm mostly looking to stock up on tees like this one during the sale, but there are a few fun blouses out there too! I already have this tee in red (worn here), so I'm excited to see it in black and white stripes!

In case you aren't quite ready to shop for fall yet, there are a bunch of cute dresses included in the sale too - you know I'm loving this blue striped dress!

There weren't a ton of bags that caught my eye, but I have been wanting a new tote and the color of this one is gorgeous!!

Aaaaaand, we're done!! Here's hoping this post was helpful as you shop the sale - let me know what's your favorite!

Two Great Sales!

So whenever I try to take a break from blogging is always when something comes up that I just have to share it with you! Two great sales landed in my inbox today, and of course I had to round up some of my favorites (ahem, and shop ;)

My favorite shoes are on sale for less than $50!! They are so comfortable and I get compliments every time I wear them!

LOFT - 40% off with code FRIENDS
I know, I know, they JUST had a huge sale less than a month ago (check out my fitting room try-ons from that sale, almost everything is still available). I almost didn't even click through to their email, but it turns out, there are a ton of cute new arrivals to shop. I ended up ordering quite a few things to try, including this striped shirtdress, this suede skirt, and this cute coverup for our beach trip in June!

Nordstrom Spring Sale - Up to 50% off
Everyone goes nuts for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but let me tell you, there are some pretty amazing items on sale right now - especially the shoes and accessories! My favorite bow mules are currently on sale, and I ended up ordering this cute red dress and little white eyelet bag, I'm planning on pairing them with my new favorite espadrilles and white statement earrings. Oh, and these earrings are less than $8 (yes, really!) so I had to snag them too!
