Gift Wrap Ideas

I love putting a pretty present under the tree, don't you? The past couple of years I've gone out the morning after Christmas to buy wrapping paper and other Christmas stuff on sale so I've got a pretty big collection of wrapping paper on hand. If I didn't though, I'd be going crazy on some of these DIY wrapping ideas - aren't they all so gorgeous?! Oh, and check out how I wrapped my gifts a couple of years ago here. I swear I had another post dedicated to DIY present wrapping but for the life of me can't find it #struggs. (edit: FOUND IT!)

What to wear for Christmas Morning

Do you love a good pair of pajamas? I usually go the route of sweatpants and a tee shirt, but wearing actual, cute pajamas always makes such a difference. And for Christmas morning, when you may be hanging out in pjs in front of those you normally do not wear pajamas in front of (ahem, inlaws), you want your pajama game to be on point. Last year I made the mistake of going for a lime green tee from a college barcrawl, and was super embarrassed when I ended up meeting my father-in-law's new girlfriend in them (especially because she had, you know, showered, and was wearing Louboutins). Not this year! Here are some of my favorite pajama picks for Christmas morning.

Lace & Bows

Coat (similar) - Marc New York / Dress - Jessica Simpson / Heels - Ann Taylor / Bag (similar) - J. Crew Factory / Bracelet (similar) - Stella & Dot

I wore this pretty lace number to the wedding we went to last weekend, and if I can get my act together and get it to the dry cleaner (ahem, we dance really hard) I'll be wearing the same thing to my work holiday party this weekend too. I don't go girly a lot these days, but I loved the combo of the lace, the ruffled skirt, and the bows on my heels - it made for such a fun party outfit.

I love December because there are so many opportunities to dress up, but I've been trying not to go too crazy shopping-wise on party clothes since they're the least worn section of my closet. Instead this year I'm trying out Rent the Runway a few more times - I'm thinking this sequined skirt would be really fun for a holiday party with Jeff's family in a couple of weeks, and this dress for NYE. Are you still shopping for holiday party looks? Renting may be the way to go - it helps you spend less and helps you avoid too many outfit repeats. Check out my review of Rent the Runway here.

This weekend...

This weekend...

...We headed to Michigan for the last wedding of the year - number 11 out of 11! Phew!! This one was a real blast as a ton of our friends from Chicago made the trip with us, and we spent all night on the dance floor. We stayed at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester which was absolutely beautiful and had a huge Christmas scene set up in the lobby. Most of the weekend involved eating crap on the road or actually at the wedding so we didn't do much exploring in Rochester, but we did get to have a fantastic brunch at the hotel restaurant, Park 600, where I had a fantastic frittata with asparagus and ham. I sadly got a little carsick on the way home and had to take Dramamine, which basically meant I spent the rest of the weekend passed out.

I hope you had a good one!

Favorite Christmas Music

What are your favorite Christmas albums? I have to admit I have a bit of a weird taste in Christmas music (thanks Mom!). I never quite got into all of the pop albums, and instead prefer the more subtle or the more traditional versions. Here are 3 of my favorite albums:
Simple, quiet, pretty piano solos. Some are definitely Christmas songs and some are more Christmas-inspired.

This album errs on the traditional side with a choir in the background of a lot of tracks, but Old Blue Eyes can't help but put his own spin on things.

This one is probably my all-time favorite - I love the jazzy spin on the traditional songs as well as the originals thrown in there. This one definitely brings me back to my childhood!

While these are my favorites, I do get tired of listening to them on repeat after a while though so I should probably expand my collection. Tell me - what's your favorite holiday album?

KDTI Holiday Gift Guide

Hey you guys! I found some gifts to share that aren't all gold! I mean, some of them are gold, but how was I supposed to put together a gift guide that didn't include gold?! Here are my top picks for this year:

How is your holiday gift shopping going? I'm about halfway done, which really means that I'm basically all done but will end up having to buy the gifts for Jeff's family because he'll have forgotten. Le sigh. At least I know it'll happen every year, just like I know that anytime I show up at my parent's house on Christmas Eve my dad will inevitably have a stack of presents he still needs wrapped.

And More Plaid

Shirt - J. Crew Factory / Skirt (similar) - LOFT / Booties (similar) - Kelly & Katie / Earrings and Bracelet - BaubleBar / Bag - Kate Spade

Welcome to December! Now that it's officially time to break out the Christmas music and trim the tree, I've been wearing plaid basically non-stop. I'm pretty sure that this shirt and the Christmas plaid are going to be on constant rotation through the end of the year - sorry if they keep showing up here, but they're all I really want to wear at this point ;) Shopping for a little plaid for yourself? Here are my top picks for the holiday season:
