A Little Pink

Shirt (similar herehere and here) - JCrew Factory / Denim (similar here and here) - Gap / Shoes (similar) - Madewell / Necklace - BaubleBar / Wallet - Kate Spade / Watch - Wristology

Sometimes all a girl needs is a little pink, if you know what I'm saying. This week has been by far my craziest of the year at work so I haven't been getting a ton of sleep, but the little hint of pink is enough to brighten my mood. That being said, I am sooooo glad it's Friday! We don't have a ton on the docket for this weekend, and I am excited to actually get some things done around the house. I'm also weirdly excited for the weather - it's supposed to be seriously cool tomorrow! Can someone say booties and scarves?!

Do you have any big plans for the weekend?

Fall Wishlist

I've been avoiding it for a while, but now that we're past Labor Day it's time to get serious about this whole fall thing! Here are my must haves for fall:

 1. Sweater Tee // I love being able to wear thicker tees once the temperatures cool down a bit, and the double stripes on this one are calling my name.
2. Tassel Necklace // Tassels have been all over the place this summer, and when done in leather they transition perfectly into fall.
3. Black Booties // Every fall I look for comfy black booties that can work easily for day and night, but I have yet to find the perfect pair. Fingers crossed that these are the ones!
4. Distressed Denim // I love the look of distressed denim, but my practical side never lets me actually buy it (you know, since Chicago is freezing for half of the year). This pair has just a hint of distressing that I think I can handle.
5. Brown Belt // Every fall is when I start re-evaluating my wardrobe staples, and this year I think I could use a new belt or two. These less fun purchases never seem to make their way into my closet because I want to spend my budget on things I want, but I should really start focusing on things I need too.
6. Red Skirt // How pretty is this red skirt?! I usually focus my skirt and dress game on spring and summer items, so I could definitely see adding a fall piece to my wardrobe. How pretty would this be dressed up for a holiday party this December??
7. Striped Scarf (similar) // I need all of the layering pieces because my office somehow seems to get even colder come fall & winter, and this striped number is definitely calling my name!
8. Pretty Tote // In the summer I tend to gravitate toward smaller bags, but come fall I start pulling out totes again - how pretty is this polka dot pattern?
What's on your wishlist for fall?

Late Summer White Denim

Shirt (similar) - LOFT / Jeans - Old Navy / Flats - Tory Burch / Watch - Wristology

I was going through my closet last week and realized I had totally forgot about this jeweled collar oxford from last fall. While I've previously worn it with coated skinnies and dark denim, while it's still warm out it felt fresher to pair it with white denim. The unofficial end of summer (& the white denim season) may have come and gone, but fall doesn't actually start until the 23rd, and has still been hot. I've been seriously amused seeing other bloggers already out in their fall layers, puffer vests, and blanket scarves - come on ladies, you and I both know it's still way too warm for that!

The whole jeweled top trend has been around for a couple years now but I'm still loving it - the detailing makes every piece extra special. Sadly this shirt is no longer available, but I've linked up some more jeweled shirt options below:

This weekend...

This weekend I...

...Went up to Wisconsin Dells with a bunch of our friends for the weekend! We spent most of the weekend out on the lake which was so fun and so relaxing. There also may have been a piñata floating around, the selfie stick, lots of wine sippy cups, and one pretty bad sunburn (ouch!). Despite my best efforts, I still seriously overpacked, but you know, sometimes it's nice to tote your entire wardrobe around, especially when you have a strapping new husband to carry it for you :) This is the second year we've gone on a friend trip for Labor Day, and it is a tradition I'm okay with continuing.

I hope you had a good long weekend!

Honeymoon Video

Oh hey, happy Friday! Yay for the long weekend!!! We're headed up to Wisconsin this morning for a weekend in the woods. Before we go, I wanted to share a little video I put together from our honeymoon in Italy. I thought it would be fun to take some videos instead of just pictures while we were there, and now I'm so glad to have all of the footage. Sadly I wasn't really using my brains and filmed everything vertically so there are silly black bars all over the place, but oh well, too late now!

I'll be taking off a day from the blog on Monday for the holiday, but will be back on Tuesday with a full recap. I hope you have a great weekend!

Gray & Tassels

Tee - LOFT / Shorts (similar) - Gap / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society / Necklace (and similar in fall colors) - BaubleBar / Watch - Wristology / Bag - Old Navy

I wanted to wear this fun tassel necklace all summer, but only managed it once #struggs. Now that fall is around the corner, it has finally become my go-to piece (I'm thinking about grabbing this pretty red version for fall!). The whole '70s thing has been really big this summer (I'm looking at you, off the shoulder tops and fringe) and it's definitely going to stick around through the fall. Speaking of fall (I know, I know, I'm not ready either) pairing a three-quarters sleeve tee like this one from LOFT with distressed shorts and sandals is a great way to start to transition your wardrobe into fall while staying cool in the heat that showed up again this week.

How are you transitioning your wardrobe for fall?

Labor Day Packing List

Can you believe this weekend is Labor Day already? Byeeeeee summer!!

Last year we rented a house with a bunch of friends up in Wisconsin and had so much fun we decided to do it again. We're heading to Wisconsin Dells (I've never been - any tips?) for a weekend of boating, swimming, bonfires, and lots of wine. It'll be a pretty chill weekend so I don't need to bring anything fancy (bye statement necklaces!), but I still want to look cute, because duhhh. I'm also trying to pack light, because last year I maybe brought way too much and then maybe had to sit through a four hour car ride with stuff crammed on all sides of me and a dog on my lap. Here's what I hope to have in my suitcase:

Some of these are items actually in my closet, and some are close approximations. Except the hat. I want that hat. I've linked similar items for those already in my closet:

The color scheme helps to make sure I'm always matching, and pieces like the chambray shirt can double as a swim coverup. The jewelry definitely isn't coming anywhere our water activities but will be nice to have the rest of the weekend. I'm going to try to fit everything I need into this oversized weekender - I've had it for a while now and get compliments on it everywhere I go!

Do you have any end-of-summer plans for Labor Day weekend?
