My Favorite Jewelry Pieces

I love a good statement earring, but I know that they are super trendy right now and in a few years I'll look back and wonder what I was thinking. My favorite jewelry pieces that I reach for almost every day are classic, simple, and beautiful. I know I'll have these for years to come, and they won't ever be relegated to the hooks in the back of my closet (ahem, like my statement necklaces from 2013). These are also the pieces I always travel with so I don't have to bring a ton of jewelry with me - I know these will go with everything!

I wear pearl earrings almost every day, and I love that they're so classic. These studs were a gift from Jeff a few years ago, and I love that they're large without being obnoxious. They can make a statement on their own, but they also mix well with any other fun pieces I want to wear.

I actually bought both of these necklaces for myself a few years ago. When I got the arrow necklace, I remember thinking it was so expensive and basically kicking myself for spending so much on one piece (ahem - it's $59.00 - not expensive!) but I think I bought it over five years ago now and wear it at least once a week - often more. So really, it was so worth it - especially since my cheaper necklaces have not stood the test of time! I'd rather have one nice necklace that I'll wear forever than a bunch of necklaces that lose their finish or break easily.

The clover necklace is actually a take on an initial necklace - those are "K's" in there! I bought these little charms along with matching chains for all of my bridesmaids for my wedding, and then ended up getting one for my mom down the line too. It's fun because I wear this almost every day, and when I meet up with friends it's likely that someone will be matching me.

This charm bracelet is a recent addition to my jewelry collection - Jeff bought it for me for Christmas. The bracelet itself is beautiful in itself. Right now there's just one little Eiffel Tower on there for our trip to Paris, and I can't wait to fill it up with charms from all of the places we've been and the adventures we have yet to go on.

This watch is more of a costume piece, it's definitely on the cheaper side. I got it for Christmas this year too, and I've been really impressed by how it's held up so far. The finish isn't wearing off, and I haven't had issues with it giving me rashes or anything (something that often happens for me with cheaper metal watches). I love the rose gold too - it's fun to wear every day, but still pretty enough to wear with dressier outfits.

Since I'm traveling this week, you had better believe all of these pieces made the trip with me! What are some of your favorite jewelry pieces?

Ensemble: Neon Stripes

Now normally I would be like, "Highlighter yellow?  No thanks!"  But something made me pick up this dress anyway.  I'm glad I did, because it makes me look like a crazy bumble bee in the best way possible.

Sweater Dress - Old Navy / Necklace - Francesca's / Belt - Old Navy / Booties - Kelly & Katie

These photos were taken with my old camera, but don't worry, photos with the new camera are coming soon.

Looking at this photo, I now realize I fastened my belt incorrectly.  Serious struggs.

Life Lately...

... via Instagram!

Do you ever buy something because it comes in a pretty bottle?  I mean no, I don't ever do that.

Thai restaurant, yes please.

Ahhhmazing donuts that someone brought to work.  I'm odd, so I only like one kind of donut: the Chocolate Longjohn.  What a strange child I must have been.

Sake bomb oh dear.

Birthday mochi (it wasn't my birthday, duhhhh)

New arm candy!  And from Target, no less!

In other news, today is my work Christmas party, which means bowling and an open bar all afternoon.  Really, I'd take that over a fancy ballroom party any day ;)

Ensemble: Turkey

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!  With three turkey dinners in as many days my stomach was quite pleased.  All of the colors in this outfit reminded me of a Thanksgiving dinner, with cranberry sauce of course.  Velvet jeans have really become my go-to this fall.  They're so comfy and soft, I want to wear them every day!

Sweater: Old Navy / Velvet Jeans: Target / Boots: Bandolino / Necklace: Loft / Ring: World Market / Manicure: Essie Powder Clutch

Whenever I rock this particular ring the boyfriend starts to get nervous, he calls it my brass knuckles.  Don't worry, I've never used it for harm.  I actually got it from World Market, which often has some cool pieces for cheap.  Unfortunately the store by my apartment recently closed so that a Walmart Express could move in.  Double thumbs down.

New Glasses from Firmoo!

So I've been dying for a new pair of glasses.  You know, a pair that I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear out of the house.  When Firmoo asked if I'd like to try out a pair from their site, I was like, duh!

Firmoo's site is full of different glasses, but I knew exactly what I wanted and went straight to the Wayfarer section and used the virtual try-on tool to see how they would look on my face.  I went with the .  I'd show you a screenshot of my virtual try-on, but I had just woken up, was unshowered, and may or may not have been out on the town the night before, so that's something I'm keeping to myself.  Instead, I'll share this lovely gem that my sister took.  Yum.

I did initially have some issues getting the virtual try-on to work, it turned out my picture was just too big of a file (d'oh!) so I shrank it down and then it worked perfectly.  Silly Macbook camera, your photo quality is just too dang good!

My biggest question was how would I get ahold of my prescription.  In the past, I've always ordered contacts or glasses directly from my eye doctor so I was worried that asking for a copy of my prescription was like cheating on your hair dresser.  I even thought about cheating and using the prescription off of my contact box, but it turns out those prescriptions usually aren't the same.  Also, your prescription includes something called your Pupillary Distance.  I tried to measure my PD at home but was off by quite a bit.  It turns out asking for a copy of your prescription is no big deal.  Just do it.

Anyway, once I managed to get ahold of my prescription, it was easy sailing.  I submitted my order, and a week later a gorgeous new pair of glasses came flying my way.  I've gotten compliments on them from everyone, including both of my grandmothers and my hard to please sister.  Although to be fair, I was also told that both by my boyfriend and brother that they make me look like a caricature/cartoon character when I make faces.  Especially when I'm wearing my winter hat.  They may have a point.

Interested in trying out Firmoo?  New customers can get their first pair free, just click here to redeem.  Please note that this offer does not apply to designer eyewear.

I'm definitely going to be using Firmoo again.  I have my eye on some new prescription sunglasses, or maybe I'll buy someone a new pair for Christmas.  You know, as a merry way of saying, "I want your face to look better."

Note: While I did receive these glasses free of charge from Firmoo, all of the content and opinions in this post are my own.
