A Little Lace

I don't know about you, but I have been loving the romantic trend that's going on right now. More lace and ruffles and pretty detailing, please! I actually tried on this blouse in stores a couple of months ago but didn't end up getting it - you had better believe that when it went on clearance I added it to my cart though! I love that it's pretty and girly without being too over-the-top, and the fit is somehow loose and flow-y while still being flattering. I wore this over the weekend to go to a little Super Bowl party with a bunch of our friends. It may be an odd outfit for football, but it's the perfect outfit for drinking (a little too much) wine with your girls on a Sunday night! I don't know about you, but it doesn't matter what the sport is - I'm never going to be as excited for the game as for the snacks! We brought my favorite easy taco dip, which led to a discussion about dips - what is it about them that make you want to stand next to a bowl of dip and eat it all before someone else gets to it? When my mom brought this particular dip to family parties when we were little, my cousins and I would literally line up around it and burn our mouths trying to eat it all as fast as we could. We were some classy little kids ;)

A lot of my friends are all of the sudden having babies (well, you know, it still takes nine months) so I also got to get a little baby time in during the game. I held a little the cutest little two month old guy for all of Lady Gaga's performance (which was freaking amazing, amiright?) and he couldn't stop dancing during it! Okay, so I was mostly making him dance, but his little arms were going crazy ;) I think we have a little Lady Gaga fan on our hands!

We've had a lot of Sunday parties lately and they really have been throwing off my schedule! Does that happen to you? Usually Sunday nights are my time to really get stuff done and prep for the week ahead, so without them I get a little lost. Here's hoping I get a chance to get back on track this week!!

A Little Lace

It seems like all I've been pinning to my wishlist lately has been lace, but so far the only thing I've added to my closet is this sweater, which has a teensy bit of lace on the side. I guess I'll have to count it. I've been looking to add a little new flavor to my closet, and lace seems like just the ticket - enough of a departure from the flannel button-downs I wore just about every day this fall, but still easy to blend with my favorite cardigans, leggings, and vests. Because, really, there's no way I'm going too long without my vests ;) 

What have you been up to this week? We've been keeping it pretty quiet because it's Jeff's busy month at work, but tomorrow we have an early dinner date and then we're going to an event with the Kerry Wood Foundation where we'll hopefully get to meet a few of the World Champion Chicago Cubs!! Don't worry single ladies, I'll put in a good word for all of you with Kris Bryant or whomever you're crushing on ;) We went to the same event a couple of years ago and it was super fun and a little weird for me, I'm not a huge sports person but I actually got the chance to talk to Kerry Wood for a second and I was totally starstruck. So really, I should never be introduced to a celebrity I really care about because I'll probably pee my pants. So, you know, keep Ryan Gosling away from me!

Lace & a little snow

I may be way over the snow, but it still does make for a pretty picture.  At least it does when it's currently falling, not two days later after the dogs have had their way with it.

As you can see, I ended up getting a pair of Hunters, mainly real snow boots are sold out everywhere and the leak in my boots got so bad that I was squishing around with an inch of water in there.  So one day during my lunch break I ran to Nordstrom and made off with the only waterproof boots they had that didn't have a wedge heel, which just happened to be Hunters.  Do some people really want to wear wedges when they're slipping around in the snow?  Either way, not for me.  So far, these guys seem to be working out for me.  And apparently all of the snow is going to melt today and flood everywhere, so I'm guessing rain boots are going to come in handy.

I know, I know.  You've been sucking it up for the past few weeks and going without tights.  Well, I'm a wimp.  And these tights are adorable, so I don't care.

I've been on the hunt for a cute pair of polka dotted tights but haven't had luck so far.  I guess with warmer weather on the way, I won't really be needing tights again for a while.  Here's to bare legs!

Dressing Up

I.love.dresses.

If shorts weren't an option (ahem, I may have already bought two pairs this year), I would probably wear a dress every day when it's warm.  I love how easy they are, and they always make me feel so feminine and flirty. I'm looking to add some new options to my closet this year, here are a few of the trends I'm looking for:
