Shirt - LOFT / Denim - Old Navy / Necklace - Madewell / Bag and Heels (similar) - Sole Society

I was searching my closet for a pastel top to wear with my white denim for a date with Jeff, and then I thought, why does it have to be pastel? Just because it's spring doesn't mean I can't work a little black into my wardrobe. All black with my white denim felt perfectly fresh, and gave me the hint of edge I like to have when I go out. Of course, I also need a hint of whimsy, hence the "Hello" tote ;)

Oh and P.S., this top is back in stock! I bought three different colors last fall and they have been my go-to for nights out and also whenever I have to dress up for work - the cut is so flattering and they somehow manage to look dressed up and casual at the same time. It's currently available in black and a couple of summery colors. Get it now - all of the colors sold out super fast last fall!

Wine Red

Blouse and Skirt (similar) - Loft / Flats - Payless / Necklace - F21 (similar)

Black and white blouses - I just can't get enough of them apparently.  There are at least five in my closet right now.  They're a great staple - classic but with a little personality, and easy to dress up or down.  I dressed down this particular blouse a couple of weeks ago with leggings here.  It also works well with this pretty red skirt.

I wore this last week to what I thought was going to be a nice dinner out with my coworkers, which quickly dissolved to me singing "Since U Been Gone" at the top of my lungs at a karaoke bar.  You know.  Things happen.

Black and White and Pink

And so continuing the pink trend, I broke out my new pink Coach Factory bag for a little dinner date with Jeff and his parents out in Oak Park over the weekend.  We went to Mancini's, which is actually in the 36 Hours book Jeff got me a couple of weeks ago.  I had an asian salmon salad, and it may have been the best salmon salad I've ever had.  Seriously.  It was so good, I decided I could handle eating healthy again and hopped back on Lose It this week.  Last spring I lost 11 pounds using Lose It, but since I added a few back over the holidays it seemed like as good a time as any to get back into the swing of things.  Personally, I think it worked for me because I could still eat whatever I wanted, I just had to exercise if I wanted to eat ice cream and if I was going to binge out on snacks they had to be healthy to fit into my calorie plan.

Oh and see my nails?  The mani I got this weekend was Essie "Find Me an Oasis" and I am loving it, it's a really pretty light blue.  I just may have to buy a bottle for myself ;)

Polka Dots + A Triceratops Confession

I give my sister a lot of crap on this blog (I mean, that's what sisters are supposed to do, right?).  But really, she does have pretty good taste.  Case in point: this adorable necklace she got me for Christmas.  To be fair though, she also gave me a giant triceratops necklace in the same package.  But who doesn't need a giant triceratops necklace in their collection? 

Ahem.  I may have already worn said necklace three or four times.  To work.  They likely think I'm a weirdo now.  

Oh, and see that bag?  One of my purchases from my Coach Factory binge a couple weeks ago.  I lurrrrrrve it ;)

Black & White & Snow

I can't decide if I'm a snow person or not.  Half the time when it snows I despise it, the other half I'm super excited.  It probably depends on how much time I actually have to spend outdoors, and whether or not it inhibits my shoe selections.  This past weekend I spent a lot of time indoors under piles of blankets so I was pretty excited about the snow.  Until I went outside in the freezing cold and tried to take pictures.  Apparently when I'm really cold I turn a ghostly shade of pale.  Or maybe I'm actually turning into a ghost...

Black and White and Coated

I was having a hard time finding coated jeans that got good reviews - it seems most of them lose their coating after a few washes.  I really wanted a pair, but the reviews everywhere, from the high end to low end, were not great.  So finally I caved when Old Navy was having a sale and decided to go cheap, if the coating was going to wear off anyway.  I've only worn these a couple of times so there haven't been any issues yet.

I wore this out to dinner with Jeff and his mom and cousin a couple weekends ago.  I wanted to get a little dressed up, but still leave room for all of the Japanese BBQ I was planning on putting in my belly.  It worked out well ;)

I have a problem with deal of the day sites, like Haute Look or Ideeli.  I find myself buying things that I don't really know what to do with.  I picked up this vest and then let it sit in my closet for a couple of  months before seeing this photo and deciding to pull it  out.
