Day to Night

Tee and Chambray - Loft / Pants - American Eagle / Bag - Audrey Brooke / Boots - Hunter / Bracelet - Baublebar

Tee - Loft / Jacket - F21 (old, similar) / Pants - American Eagle / Bag - unknown (similar) / Booties - BCBG (old, similar) / Bracelet - Baublebar

I haven't done a Day to Night post in a while so I thought it would be fun to do another.  Usually when I have plans after work, I either don't want to find a new outfit or I don't have time to change, so I try to find outfits that can quickly transition from day to night with a few small changes.

I wore this last week from work to what I didn't realize was a dinner to celebrate my birthday at Chicago Firehouse with Jeff's dad.  Chicago Firehouse is famous for steaks, but my dad had made some amazing steaks for us a couple days before, so instead we went all in on seafood - shrimp, crab, oysters, lobster, and some fantastic seared scallops.  And then I rolled home.

This weekend...

This weekend I...

... Got a save the date for a canoe race, and now am concerned about how they got my address / how big of stalkers they are since I've moved six or seven times since I last entered back in 2007.
... Grabbed a pizza at our favorite neighborhood joint for a little date night.
... Braved the Mag Mile on a Saturday afternoon to go shopping for a couple of birthdays coming up.
... Started planning outfits for our trip to Key West, which is just a week away!
... Had some amazing Korean short ribs and about a thousand sticky buns (including some fried like donuts for dessert) at BellyQ.
... Started (and finished!) a couple of projects that have been on my list for a while.
... Spent an amazing amount of time relaxing and reading The Goldfinch.  Weekend with very few plans are often my favorite :)

I hope you had a good one!

Dreaming of Spring

Winter may seem never ending at this point, but don't worry, spring is on the horizon!  We're springing forward this weekend, and even if there's still snow on the ground the extra hour of daylight after work is still something to celebrate.

I said last week that I was worried what would happen when spring clothes hit the racks.  Yeah.  I was right to be worried.  I've already spent over half of my March budget.  All of the spring clothes are so pretty, I just can't stay away.  Here are some of my favorites:

Have a happy Friday!  We don't have any plans for once, and I am very excited for a few days of relaxation.  What are you up to this weekend?

DIY Wrapping Paper

I may have a teensy online shopping problem.  I end up returning a lot of the things I buy, but it seems packages are constantly being delivered to my house.  Which means I have bubble wrap and tissue paper and empty boxes everywhere.

I love the look of kraft wrapping paper, but realized the packing materials I had laying around had the same look for free.  You could also do this for smaller gifts with paper bags (if you're also a Trader Joe's fan who frequently forgets reusable shopping bags, you likely have a lot of these too).  I cut the packing paper to size, trying to match the creases already folded into the paper to the corners of my boxes.  Then I drew on the paper using a metallic Sharpie and added some pretty string.

And done!  Pretty, personalized wrapping paper, all for zero dollars.

Navy & Green

Navy and green do not make up my typical color palette.  I wear them separately but I don't think I've ever tried them together.  Then a Saturday came along when I felt like actually getting dressed instead of hanging out in my pajamas until it was time to go out to dinner, and the blue and green really caught my eye.

Shirt - JCrew Factory / Sweatshirt (old) and Skirt - JCrew / Booties - Kelly & Katie (old) / Bag - Coach Factory / Bracelet - Baublebar

Aaaaand just realized I was wearing all JCrew.  Oh dear.  This blog thing seems to be changing me, especially since I didn't buy my first piece from JCrew until last summer.

I also wore this skirt here and here.

This weekend...

This weekend I...

...Volunteered all day on Saturday for Destination Imagination.  My volunteer thank you bag included a light up sequined bow tie, which I immediately put in my hair and made all of my cheerleader dreams come true.
...Went to my first ever baby shower.  Thankfully it did not involve smelling any diapers, and did involve eating delicious peanut butter cookies.
...Had dinner with a couple of ladies in our favorite (and only) restaurant in my parents' neighborhood, Louie's.  It was a hotspot, ran into a bunch of old friends.
...Saw my sister's classroom for the first time, and was super amused by the way the desks are arranged - she has one trouble maker who has to sit by himself surrounded by the other desks.
...Tried Shrimp & Grits for the first time.  Southerners, you guys know what's up.
...Worked out of my childhood bedroom on Friday, and was super amused by some of the things still in it, namely a ten year old cactus that maaaaaay be a very pretty dead plant.
...Had some delicious cupcakes my mom baked to celebrate my birthday, and got a couple of things on my list :)

I hope you had a good one!
