Baby's First Lilly

Dress (similar) - Lilly Pulitzer / Bag (similar, I also love this one) - Sondra Roberts / Earrings - BaubleBar / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society

Yep, it's my first Lilly Pulitzer dress! I snagged it on major sale during the last After Party sale, and I freaking love it. As a born and raised Chicago girl, I'm normally not so into all of the crazy Lilly patterns. BUT, their little white dresses are so stinking cute!! I'm looking at you, lace and tassel dress (insert heart eyes emoji). I was super excited to finally get to pull out this dress for our vacation - it was perfect over swimsuits and dressed up a little bit for dinner.

Speaking of our vacation, we flew back late on Friday night, and this week has been a struuuuuggle!! I've been waking up super early, which is a nice change of pace from dragging myself out of bed in the mornings. I've actually been super productive from about 5-7am, getting all sorts of stuff done around the house! But, on the other hand, the afternoons have gotten really real. Jeff and I have been fighting not to go to bed as soon as we get home every night. Yesterday was starting to feel better, so I'm hoping that by today I'll have finally shaken the jet lag for good.

Since we've basically been zombies every night this week, we've been ordering in for just about every meal - so not good! Before we left I got into some really good eating habits with lots of veggies and very few processed foods (and actually managed to lose 6 pounds!) and now I need to figure out how to get back into that clean eating mindset. And stop myself from eating an entire bag of chips and salsa, like I consumed while writing this post ;)

That whole healthy eating thing probably isn't going to happen this weekend though, because we have a bar night on the books for Friday night to celebrate a friend's new job, and then we're headed to a Cubs game on Saturday. I'm super excited that it's baseball season again, and there's basically no way I'm headed into Wrigley Field and not grabbing a hot dog and a beer! It's supposed to be freaking beautiful this weekend in Chicago, so I'm also hoping to sneak in some patio time.

Anyway, that's probably enough rambling - time to shut off my sleepy brain!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Oh hey there, did you realize Mother's Day is right on the horizon? I did oh, about yesterday, and then proceeded to make plans with the special mama in my life and buy a bunch of presents. So now I'm basically set. Unfortunately, Jeff's birthday actually comes before Mother's Day, and I haven't figured out anything for him yet. What can I say, shopping for my mom is so much more fun than trying to figure out what sports memorabilia or country music concert tickets Jeff would want. I'll take looking at jewelry and candles any day!

When it comes to shopping for Mother's Day, I always tend to look for pretty little things that my mom would never think to buy for herself, so she can treat every day like it's Treat Yo Self 2011. Here are a few of my picks (and don't worry Mom, your actual presents are not included - no spoilers!!):

One Shoulder + Pom Poms

Top - LOFT / Shorts - J. Crew Factory / Bag (similar, I also love this one) - Sondra Roberts / Earrings  (similar) - BaubleBar / Sandals (similar) - Sole Society

I don't know about you, but I am all in on the one-shoulder trend. It's like off-the-shoulder, but so much easier to wear because you don't have to worry about your sleeves riding up or your top falling down. I wore this top several times on our vacation, and also just got this eyelet version in the mail - so cute!!

I would write more, but my brain is basically jello at this point - I almost made several weird jokes about strapless bras - so I'm going to cut it short. Happy Tuesday!

This Weekend...

Helloooooo, we're back from Asia!!!! The trip was amazing and incredible and so many more superlatives, but now that we're back I am so jet lagged. The time change was about 12 hours so we were basically zombies all weekend - fingers crossed that things improve fast! More details to come about our trip soon, but in the meantime here's what we were up to:

...With 4am and 2:30am wake-ups, we decided to take advantage of being up early and hit up Over Easy for breakfast, which usually has a huge line when we try to go. A BLT breakfast sandwich is always something I'll say yes to!
...Put in an order for those pretty blush bow mules everyone has been going crazy for. They originally weren't available in my shoe size (#bigfeetproblems) but on the restock they made a few more sizes! Of course, they're on backorder until May so I'll have to wait a little longer to actually get them on my feet.
...Went over to a friend's house to enjoy the warm weather we had and maybe a little too much rosé ;) We made it until 8pm before Jeff actually fell asleep sitting up! Which it turns out was a pretty good time to go, because had we stayed any later we probably both would have passed out in the Uber on the way home.
...Had some major cravings for trashy American food, so we went to Flagship to stuff ourselves with all of the apps. Their food was actually really good bar food, I want to go back now and try a few more things off their menu.
...Discovered that Cool Runnings is available on Netflix again, and maybe watched it not once but twice over the weekend. It was one of my favorite movies growing up and it turns out I still have most of the movie memorized. Imagine what I could be doing with all of that brain space that's instead dedicated to one liners like, "How 'bout I draw a line down the middle of your head so it looks like a butt?" Classic.

I hope you had a good one!

OTK Boots and a Skirt

Sweater (similar), Skirt (similar), Necklace (a birthday gift!) - LOFT / Boots - Kaitlyn Pan / Bag (similar) - Coach Factory / Watch - Wristology

One of the reasons I really wanted to hop on the over-the-knee boot trend? It means you don't have to wear tights! I seriously hate having to wear tights, they're so constrictive and uncomfortable, so I usually end up not wearing skirts or dresses at all in the winter! But with OTK boots, that's not a problem! Plus, they're super warm. Like, 100x warmer than tights. I've heard these boots referred to as "boot pants," and that's seriously what they are!

Not a lot in my wardrobe ends up standing the test of time, but my skirt and sweater have been around for what feels like forever at this point (or, you know, at least five years). The sweater gets pulled out every year when I want to feel spring-y (and even made it into our engagement photos!), and the skirt has had several lives - the entire hem came out at one point and then it took me about a year to manage to get it fixed. I actually can sew a hem, but this one is invisible and was too much stress for me to try to fix myself. I'm glad I finally got it repaired though, because it's one of my favorite things. The a-line style is super flattering - my sister even complimented me on it, and it's hard to pull a compliment on my clothes out of her ;) Looking at these pictures is making me wonder why I don't own more pretty little skirts like this one. Adding that to my shopping list!

9 Spring Dresses under $150

I don't know about you, but every spring I end up needing to dress up more than I expect. Between weddings, showers, Easter, and work events, I always end up needing a pretty spring dress or two. I looked in my dress closet and realized that most of my pretty spring dresses have been around the block a time or tow, so I've been on the hunt for something new to add to the closet. I actually ordered this one but I have a feeling it isn't quite going to work on me, so the hunt continues! I'm always looking for dresses that are under $150, aren't too revealing (for all of the church events), and have pretty spring colors or details - all of these fit the bill! Which is your favorite?
