I think you know you're really a grown-up when you start asking for things for your home for Christmas. Now that I've hit full adult status, home goods are some of my favorite gifts to give and receive - especially if they're pretty! Here are a few home good gift ideas:
Okay, so here's an important question: how many bows is it appropriate to wear in one outfit?
With the holidays upon us and hair bows coming back into style, I'm starting to find myself wearing two or even three (ahem, or four - the back of this sweater has a bow too!) per outfit. What can I say, they're fun and girly without being over the top, and seemingly go with everything!
Initially I was a little unsure when hair bows started showing up everywhere this fall, but I decided to try one out for myself and am now fully on board. They're such a fun accessory, and make even the most casual hairstyle look dressed up. It's just too bad I didn't keep my giant hair bows from the '90s, because I'd be set right about now! I currently just have the one, which is attached to a giant barrette which makes it easy to clip in and go.
I've also been all about the red lips this year. I've tried red lips in the past but would always get frustrated with the color fading too fast and ending up all over my cups / food / clothes / husband. This year I decided to try a few long-wear formulas, and I'm totally hooked! Here I'm wearing Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Pioneer, and it is a serious game-changer. The color really lasts all day! You just have to let it dry for at least 10 minutes before trying to drink or kiss anything. Which is usually something I can handle ;)
...went out for date night with Jeff at Monteverde. We went once before and only got the gigantic ragu alla napoletana (seriously, so huge that between two people we still had leftovers) but wanted to try some of the small plates this time - the cacio whey pepe was amazing!!
...drove down to Indianapolis to visit a couple of friends who moved there earlier this year. We did a lot of hanging out and watching babies roll around on the floor, but also managed to make it out to Christkrindlmarkt (where I had the best waffle of my life - why have I never tried liege waffles before?!) and to Rook for dinner, which was amazing - definitely go if you're ever in Indy! Just don't try the cocktails, as a group we collectively decided they were basically juice.
...binged several episodes of Champs vs Stars with Jeff. A fun fact about Jeff and I is that we both individually were obsessed with The Challenge on MTV before we met, which is hilarious and odd. You might remember that we actually went out of our way to meet Leroy when we were in Vegas last summer ;) Well anyway they're doing a special season of regular cast members versus stars, and it is hilarious and amazing and everything I ever dreamed the show could be. I mean, in the last episode, Lil Romeo brought out his giant bodyguard to threaten someone because he thought he had gotten an unfair elbow to the face during one of the competitions.
I hope you had a good one!

Happy Friday! Here's hoping there's a glass of wine waiting for you somewhere :) Today Jeff and I have some fun dinner plans, and then tomorrow morning we're hopping in the car and driving down to Indianapolis to visit some friends. Any recommendations on good podcasts to listen to in the car? Let me know!
What to get for the ladies in your life? I always like to try to think of pretty or fun indulgences that she wouldn't think to buy for herself. Here's the holiday gift guide for her:
This tee is one of those things where I saw it, and immediately had to have it. I even paid for shipping. For a tee shirt with a plaid elephant on it. Where on earth are my priorities?
That being said, I obviously needed another plaid piece in my closet, so the tee fit right in. I literally have a whole section of my closet devoted to plaid, and my pajama drawer is slowly being taken over. Last weekend, I found myself wearing three different plaid pajama pieces at once, and then the next day managed to wear four. We were decorating our Christmas tree at the time though, so I feel like it was fully acceptable. Please don't try to tell me otherwise.
Yep, it's gift guide time! Or rather, it was gift guide time about two weeks ago (because that's when you started shopping, right?) but I couldn't get my act together in time!
Chances are you haven't bought a gift for those guys in your life yet though, because they're so hard to shop for. My husband just spent three hours trying to figure out what he wanted for Christmas and couldn't even think of something for himself. Which really, is a big chunk of the problem!
If you have a guy on your shopping list and can't figure out what to get him, here are a few ideas:
1. A cool watch, so he can look important (and stop looking at his phone to get the time) 2. Nice rocks glasses, for his fancy whiskey sipping. 3. A cozy pullover, so he can still look nice when vegging out. Jeff has this exact one and loves it! 4. A cool plug that lets you turn on and off any electric device with your phone. Can I have one too? 5. Wireless headphonesto make his workouts easier. We gave away a couple pairs of these at a work event, and the guys all went nuts for them. 6. A PopSocket, to make sure he doesn't drop his phone. All of the techies at my work conference last month were sporting one. 7. Cool leather sneakers, to up his style game. 8. The 36 Hours book, to plan your next weekend adventure - we have this and it's amazingly helpful! 9. A plaid shirt, because every guy needs another one. 10. A fancy suitcase, to replace the backpack he keeps bringing on his work trips. 11. Warm tech gloves, so he doesn't get frostbite when he checks his phone again for the time despite the fact that you got him that watch. 12. Cozy sweatpants, to replace the ratty ones from college he still wears around the house. 13. A lightning cable keychain, so he never has to worry about losing his charger. 14. A super-strong umbrella, so his never blows inside out on the way to an important meeting. This was on Jeff's Christmas list last year and he loves it. 15. A grill mat, for when he proves his manliness with fire (or rather, for when you trick him into cooking dinner). 16. A new wallet, because you know his is definitely falling apart. 17. Fancy boots, so he can look cool but still be comfortable. Jeff has these too because I forced him to buy them, and he wore them all over Paris last week without any issues.
